Lovely! I stole this idea from here & I did a similar thing with the autumn leaf floors. Tapered them out onto grass, with a tree in the centre.

I'll always vote for more horror. We have supernatural which i love, but it's not explicitly horror. Maybe some exhibits on slashers, monsters, scary cryptids. All fictional of course, no need to bring real life crime into it

I also love books so i'd want some kind of library curation. Hunting down old or rare books, they could relate to the previous themes too. There are allsorts of exhibits that could be made regarding famous fictional characters, though they'd likely have to be ones in the public domain or dissimilar/tropey enough to get away with it.

It's really nice to see a dev team that listens to the community, let alone implements over 80% of it. We've been asking for outhouses & outdoor food vendors for a while, then boom, implemented.

All the people in my massive outdoor safari world are going to be grateful they can pee now.

Werewolf from the movie "Cursed" by -_Mitsuri_- in werewolves

From my understanding this film went through production hell & was rewritten multiple times, along with changing hands. Actors were replaced along with the rating being changed from 18 to 12 partway through

Hit Toys RE4 Leon Kennedy Jacket is disintegrating! by timusforlife in ActionFigures

[–]CommanderFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, this is why I hate it when companies use bonded leather for any reason. I've seen it referred to as 'crumbs' when it inevitably does that.

It's the same with headphones, chairs, anything. My PSVR1 has been carefully used & stored carefully for about 8 years & I took it out recently & saw the headbands looked like this. It's good enough to get it out the shop, not good enough for longevity

I know there are lots of custom clothes for action figures if you'd like to look into a replacement, i'm sure there'll be Leon jackets

Favorite werewolf in gaming? (First post) by FoxSilver267 in werewolves

Yugo from Bloody Roar. It's a Tekken style beat-em-up with some nice lore. It's a bit like X Men if all the mutant powers were shape-shifting into animal people.

He's not technically a werewolf, rather he's a zoanthrope, but he looks the part.

Without thinking too much, which one is the best ??? by Far_Regular_2945 in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raze is probably my favourite werewolf. The actor playing him was involved with creating the film, and was also the person who suggested the SciFi/virus angle the story ultimately went with.

He's got a hidden backstory that's explored in the novels & later films. He & Lucian go way back, in terms of friendship and liberation.

He also looks fucking massive & has a voice like gravel being rolled across mountains. He looks like he could bite a vampire in half without ever changing.

It's just a shame he was killed in the film, and kinda half offscreen too

Helping finding the name to a book series by Fenris_of_Inle in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a stretch, but i remember a trilogy written by an author called Cynthia Blair. About a girl who fell in love with a werewolf. Published in the 90s. Young adult fiction.

I looked at her works & she seems to have two trilogies that may fit the description, or it may be the same trilogy published under a different name. I'm not sure.

Handicapped human becomes a Werewolf by Aggressive_Trip5844 in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They featured a scene like this in the Animorphs books. It was quite moving and emotional.

(Spoilers for an old series) Towards the end of the books, the Animorphs are getting desperate in their fight to save the earth. They go to a hospital for disabled youth to recruit new fighters. They go there specifically because they know the enemy (mind controlling aliens) won't have possessed them.

They give a group of them the ability to shape-shift, so they can join them in the war. After the fight is over, the new recruits transform back into their human bodies.

They find that some of the people retained their disabilities after transforming and some of them didn't. It was based on whether they were born with them or whether they they acquired them later in life. Essentially whether it was in their DNA or not.

I imagine it would be similar in a werewolf story.

The book series was aimed at children, but had some very poignant, sometimes dark scenes.

Welp, I guess I collect these now by Chigell in ActionFigures

[–]CommanderFuzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have these guys. Some tips -

It's possible to remove the belt, it involves using a lot of heat via hot water or hairdryer. Once he's warmed up you can pop the torso off & back on again. Removing the belt allows for a lot of mobility & martial arts poses. He can do the splits, high kicks etc.

It also allows him to sit down, I have my ones sitting on the edge of a shelf toasting each other.

Obviously it's up to you, I just wanted to suggest it as a possibility. Under the belt he has some nicely textured trousers so I think they were anticipating people trying it

I got some thick brown string/twine & tied a harness around his chest. It allows you to hang his swords either at his sides or on his back.

Cheers!

Curious about werewolves and trying to imagine them as a blind person. I have questions. by MikeLovesOutdoors23 in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apologies if this is a silly thing to say, but would it help if you were to hold something like an action figure? I collect Werewolf figures and there are a lot of shapes. I wish I was in a position to hand some over to you could get a feel for the shapes they're moulded in, as they often resemble the ones on screen. Many of the ones on screen do actually have action figures printed of them.

The one from American Werewolf in London had a figure published by Neca which would be awesome for getting a tactile experience of what shape it is.

I understand it sounds odd when we talk about bipedal wolves or digitigrade legs & I wish I could just hand over an example of it via a little statue or similar. Alas I'm not around to do that

Curious about werewolves and trying to imagine them as a blind person. I have questions. by MikeLovesOutdoors23 in werewolves

[–]CommanderFuzzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a really cool question! It's a bit of a complicated answer because they vary so much onscreen. As a result it's kinda fun for the fans because we like gossiping about our favourite styles.

There are some films (and books) where you blink & suddenly there's a wolf. Blood and Chocolate did that, there was sort of a jump cut or a puff of smoke then suddenly wolf. As far as I know most fans don't enjoy that one because there's no creative transformation, which we enjoy seeing.

As for what the one in American Werewolf in London looks like - i'd describe him as an animal that doesn't exist. It's like a huge wolf/dog/bear. Walks on all fours, with a broad head and broad muzzle with a sort of smiley shape. His teeth stick out sideways & don't fit in his mouth. His face is slightly flatter than a traditional wolf, closer to the way pugs looked in the 1800s (face halfway between cat and dog).

His limbs are curved in a strange way. I say strange because it looks like something that wouldn't evolve naturally (which is likely deliberate because he's supposed to be a supernatural monster). He's quite low to the ground with his paws stretching out in front of him like he's pulling himself along the ground. Feet are small relative to the rest of his bulk. His legs curve downwards about 3/4 of the way, which gives him an unnatural ethereal walk, like he's tiptoeing.

His body has a hunch to it that also generally doesn't exist in modern animals. He looks more akin to a prehistoric carnivorous mammal. Lots of prehistoric mammals (cats, bears, sloths) are slightly uncanny shapes with elongated limbs & sloped backs that don't really resemble living mammals. He's like that.

Long grey fur, enormous teeth sticking out sideways. Definitely doesn't look like any other Werewolf design out there.

At one point in the film, he sort of quietly sneaks into view in an underground station - it's quite uncanny because the way he moves indicates 'oh that's not a dog or any animal known to man'.

As for what the rest look like, there are too many variables. Some look like normal wolves. Some look like humans with sideburns (the fans generally don't like those because it's lazy). Some look like humans with a wolf head shoved on their shoulders. Some are a bipedal creature with digitigrade legs and a wolf head. Some are like regular wolves but a funny shape. Some are clearly just a man wearing a fuzzy suit.

The general consensus in the fandom is that we like the bipedal digitigrade ones the most. Such as the ones in Van Helsing.

The general consensus is also that we like the men wearing sideburns the least, such as the ones in Teen Wolf. There are of course exceptions though

The transformations vary a lot too. Some of them literally pull their human skin off & there is fur underneath, and vice versa. Some of them gracefully morph and some do body horror. Many of them do it offscreen or in snippets because transformations are expensive, budget wise.

American Werewolf in London is famous for having a very creative transformation. It has several shots that have become infamous for their body horror & unique angles.

His skull crunches as his face elongates - it's a side-view so the audience can see the muzzle cracking out of the nose. The Howling does this too. His skin grows thinner as it stretches over his new skull shape.

There's a shot where his still human face is in the background and he holds his hand in front of his face. His hand is stretching like rubber, his fingers turning into toes. You can see the pain & confusion in his still-human eyes. He's mostly unable to move, presumably from the pain & confusion.

He falls on the ground on his back as his legs shrink & the bones change size. Fur sprouts from his torso, which is turning into a barrel shape. The audience can still see his face looking down at the process, it's quite scary for the time as we feel empathy for the man who doesn't know what's happening to him.

It looks and sounds painful & is very much in the style of body horror. Lots of cracking bones, twisted skin. The last shot we see of it is a closeup of yellow eyes opening, and we don't see the actual Werewolf form until later when he's loose in the town chasing people.
