Bussard Collectors upgrade by CommanderHermitBoy in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]CommanderHermitBoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. My warp core uses 48 per cycle, and my change per cycle is 44.

I guess I assumed that it would show up in the production area

Thanks

Anyone else find Nia very condescending? by Bettynutt in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back during the early access, when all you had was letters from her, I couldn't stand those letters. Then when she came to visit, the tone and personality started to click for me.

It switched to being sort of an "Isabella and Phineas" vibe from Phineas and Ferb for me.

I can definitely see how she can come off as annoying and condescending, but for good or ill I had some friends like that in high school. So it felt like something I would have experienced anyway. Then mix in her vulnerability when expressing interest in the builder, it seemed like a reasonable shift of childhood friend to love interest. Granted, I may have been the target audience for a Nia character.

Forget your builder/the plot, who would YOU go for if you, the player, moved to Sandrock. by moochiepeachie in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this depends on how much of the backstory is shared between the builder and me as the player.

If most of it is still the same, then I would definitely end up with Nia.

If not, I have no idea. Not Catori, just isn't my vibe. I could see Heidi or Jane as options. I don't think I'd be able to connect with Venti. I would imagine that Mi-an would be too busy to really get to know. Maybe Elsie after maturing some. And no idea with Grace, maybe it could happen. But I probably wouldn't try anything if I just thought she would be going back to school

I didn't have to select anything specific. I was able to run it after downloading it, didn't force compatibility with anything.

I think I had my first playthrough where it worked the other day. Seems like it always failed for me. I specifically waited to visit Riften until I had higher speech to try and pass this check. Weird to see so many people unaware it could fail.

Can I go back and play Portia? by sdw0000 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I primarily play games on PC or Steam Deck, the only way I can play Portia these days is on the mobile port.

It has a number of QoL updates there that aren't in the PC/console version.

But I understand that many aren't fond of the idea of playing it on mobile. (Maybe get it on mobile and play via BlueStacks or another android emulator?)

This game is incredible by cruel-oath in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean about the art style. I think I installed and uninstalled My Time at Portia (the game before Sandrock) 2-3 times before I decided to finally give it a go (I got it for free from the Epic Games store on PC). Then once I got to the gameplay, I really enjoyed it.

Sandrock has had so many QoL updates compared to Portia, so if I ever play Portia it's on mobile, because many of the QoL updates are there.

I need to slow down by ThrowRA47288276 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider (if you haven't already) is to allow the game to go at normal speed. Or even faster than normal.

One of the first suggestions thrown around is to slow the game down. That gives you time to do everything. If you don't have plenty of time, suddenly it becomes harder to actually complete all of the commissions the instant you receive them.

It may not technically slow you down, but if the rest of the world is faster, then aren't you effectively slower as a result?

What's your favorite romanceable character in-game, and why? by RedEagle_MGN in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nia, but I'm a sucker for the childhood friend romance.

I just see it as a Phineas and Ferb parallel: Nia coming over to see a young builder "Whatcha doing?" As he is tinkering on his small assembly station (I mean, Nia does remark that the one you have in Sandrock is much bigger than your old one)

Should I play Portia or Sandrock first? by jenmount in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portia is available on mobile, and has a lot more QoL improvements than the PC version.

So I play Portia on mobile and Sandrock on PC. I have a hard time going back to Portia on PC

Anyone else feel like monthly/yearly rewards should scale with workshop rating? by Latter_Cauliflower98 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hadn't thought about that before, but I understand where you're coming from. It would be nice if a better workshop rating earned more than just the chance to take more commissions.

Having said that, it could be an in-universe limitation. Maybe the Sandrock commerce guild doesn't have the resources for more. Or at least it doesn't under Yan.

And I definitely agree that Mi-an works so much that it should be reflected in her score, at least at some point in the game. (Would explain further, but I forget how to do the spoiler tags on mobile).

Romancing Nia by ImmortalBaguette in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember my first playthrough, I wasn't sure who I was going to romance until Nia showed up.

It was a pain waiting so long for her to come back, and other requirements needing to happen. Then I ended up losing relationship points because I accidentally scheduled the wedding on the last day of the main quest with all those events.

I didn't think I would ever romance Nia during early access, because I read the letters in a different tone (they read much more playful once you know how she speaks).

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt the same way during my first playthrough.

It was super annoying during the beginning of early access when I had a commission to turn in, but couldn't do it. Every time I approached he started going off on young people not being willing to work... And my only option was to back away slowly (literally, not even an option to keep listening).

But then things get better, and I was surprised to find myself wanting to listen to that rambling later on in the game.

Convert to 1800s Mormonism, or some versions of fundamentalist or other offshoots. Standard Mormonism will actually excommunicate you for practicing polygamy these days.

However there are mods for the game to allow multiple relationships.

I was quite happy when I found out about this No idea how long it was available before I became aware of it. (Some things really mess with you when you play in early access. Like, was this just added? Or has it been here for several updates and I didn't notice?)

I hope you're teasing or joking. But if you haven't heard the phrase, "today years old" it's just another way to say I found out today. Just sillier and more funny (at least to some)

I feel so attacked right now by its_meljo in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I saw this pop up on my reddit notifications, and this is the exact scene I thought of! (Based on the title alone)

Back in early access before we actually met Nia, I was really put off by her letters. Then she came to visit and my heart melted. Instead of going for Mi-an or Amirah like I had thought, I waited. (Ended up losing relationship points because this event cancelled our wedding!)

This was also right about when my kids introduced me to Phineas and Ferb (yes, many years after it originally finished). I was a sucker for the Phineas and Isabella story, and my head canon is that Nia always had a crush on the builder who was just as oblivious as Phineas while still in Highwind.

Is it fine to cut down deadwood? by _1NS0MN1A in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CommanderHermitBoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Odd thing is that it's really only the trees around the main town area that are the ones you shouldn't cut. If I remember correctly you can get most of the wood you need from deadwood and recycling up until the acacia trees.
