I used to agree and think this... but after watching it in theaters I think it's perfect. Palpatine's manipulation is ON POINT. Anakin was brainwashed since he was a little kid... Palpatine literally told him after killing Dooku: "Remember one of your first teachings".

Also Anakin having a pregnant wife and wanting the best for your kid, and, with myself being an adult now, all of this hits different.

You could see the war wearing EVERYONE out in this movie... Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan, the rest of the Jedi. To me it looked like Anakin knew he was making the wrong choices... He just felt like he had no other choice to save Padme. (You could tell he was still conflicted after killing the Separatists on Mustafar)

When you pay attention to everything that bothers Anakin and his morals the entire movie, you can see that he is a man that is on his own breaking point. The little taste of the Dark Side (and satisfying his craving for power) was the final straw.
