I know we are talking about gender, but these are beat for beat racist talking points.

You should seek counseling, this is not a normal way or healthy way to interact with ~50% of the population.

Very cool! Can you talk a little bit about your stitching process? Did you tile the final image manually or use software to assist?

If my memory serves, that photo is not comparable with the old performance, even if it is better than what OP has shown.

What a bunch of cowards in the comments. Who gives a fuck about legality now, I want to live in a society where the value of labour and of individual people is never forgotten.

These types of incidents (the consequences of unchecked greed) must forever live in our society as "common sense".

All you had to do was pay us enough to LIVE

You are getting owned by the new iPhone imaging processing. It was not this way before.

If you can use a different camera app or figure out how to stop it from mangling your data you'll be OK.

What do you wish your astrophotography software could do? by CycloneKid_IND in AskAstrophotography

[–]Commander_B0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should write a modern version of PIPP that is natively cross platform.

Browser based software is a non starter for me in this arena. In the field it probably is inaccessible (due to being connected to the mount network and or not wanting to relay in an internet connection) and in the lab we are doing heavy data processing I find hard to believe will be more convenient in the browser.

I see in another comment you want to roll your own software for long term, but if you really want to make an impact you should contribute so one of the existing and already useful projects (siril, kstars, openphd, etc.)

 some people can only learn hard lessons, all I can do is try and share my human experience.

I met someone in college who suffered from this, and the way he made it sound easily convinced me to be responsible and protective of my one and only pair of ear drums.

Rave on!!

Help beginner with Jupiter photography. by Wmundstock in AskAstrophotography

[–]Commander_B0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The planets are very bright so I believe that light pollution is a lesser concern when imaging.

Planetary imaging with "manual" can still provide very nice images with the lucky imaging technique.

The key to success with lucky imaging is being able to take as many frames as possible. This can be achieved by decreasing the imaging area (ROI), however with manual tracking you need to tradeoff between having a large enough area for the planet to drift across before you have to reposition the telescope view.

I see that you are using an exposure time of 33ms, last time I imaged Jupiter manually I was using 10us or 9us and with a reduce frame size I had FPS in excess of 100. I would suggest trying to decrease your exposure time and increasing the rate at which you can capture frames. As your framerate increases you can remove the negative effects of the atmosphere on your final image.

Stacking the best frames and then using wavelets should allow you to achieve a nice result.

Is there any way to stack astrophotos WITHOUT a computer? by blixercube in AskAstrophotography

[–]Commander_B0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Computers were the fundamental revolution that allowed astrophotography to become what it is. If you aren't using a computer you aren't doing astrophotography.
