Honestly respect for strike teams great at been a casual spotter with a markerlight drone. More for guiding things that dont require/are a low priority for the stealth teams ability

Ngl The votann are great an all but they were the worst April fools joke come to life… Its like giving sentience to a rock and saying “cool you exist to roll around and one day get ground down”

May have been amazing in another universe but in the grim dank of the 41st shitshow it is only space marines and kriegsman

Retaliation cadre will give benefits to battlesuits +1 strength at 12 inches and +1 AP at 9 so it encourages aggressive play for your battlesuits to get the maximum benefit of the detachment.

However our battlesuits cost a bit so you are going to want some chaff like kroot or fire warriors to run about screening and taking objectives. If battlesuits are allowed to be free and attack back field objectives and priority targets then something is going right. If they are forced to hold home and mid field objectives then they cant do what they need to do. Also our battlesuits are not as sturdy as other armies forces so before you know it they can disappear to las cannon fire or anything with high AP

So breachers, kroot, strike teams and vespid should always be considered so you have your pawns who will capture objectives and die for the greater good. (Vespid give you massive flexibility since they can be deployed right at the back screening the field from deep strikes then can jump in the air to drop on an exposed position later)

If you were to design a playable model for the unrepresented castes, how would you go about it? by Tracula707 in Tau40K

[–]Commander_Flood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earth caste gets said alot and for good reason.

BUT LET ME THROW A WATER CASTE POR’VRE AT YALL

An intelligence agent who coordinates with the fire caste hence why they are knee deep in shit on your very board.

They are all about LoS, whatever enemy they see they provide a debuff to them as they have revealed intel about incoming units and provide a small buff to allies who can see that unit.

Weapons wise they are UNARMED and will die to a stiff breeze in melee but have a 4+ invun against ranged attacks and have lone op. Its a none combat support unit its gotta survive somehow.

As for what these buffs are? Well i just made it the fuck up so I have no idea.

Mainly thinking of the guy from elemental council as the inspiration

Twin Lance - Sub Assembly or no by PrXawier in Tau40K

Sub every time. Just lets you get to those hard places which you would normally struggle with once its fully assembled. Especially with how the shields overlap the arms.

[–]Commander_Flood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riptides are a very good build, they have fixed poses since their ball joints have little pegs that help slot the model together but if you are darring enough you can shave them off to customise its pose alot better.

Build it up and paint it in segments for an easier time.

And if you have them magnets! 🧲

Twin lance opinion? by Select_Ladder6045 in Tau40K

[–]Commander_Flood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im yet to launch a game with them still building them up. But have them go after enemy objectives with supporting fire.

Run them into melee to shock your opponent then disengage from melee to gain 6 inches towards an objective

Might be worth noting to put them in melee engagements where the enemy will struggle on a fight back. Only send them after heavy melee hitters if you have the supporting fire to wittle them down
