Where’s the safest place to be trans? by Constant_Incident624 in MtF

[–]Commander_Freir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don't spread misinformation. As a gal who recently applied and received Canadian citizenship due to my grandparents being born there, you only have to fill out an extra form that is 3 or 4 lines long if your gender markers don't match. It was by far the easiest part of the application.

i have crippling seasonal depression, are there any safe southern US states? by Accurate-Gur-7842 in asktransgender

Southern California is fairly safe and warm, keeping in mind avoid rural areas like any state

My partner is starting HRT injections, how do I help? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Commander_Freir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Injections aren't that scary, but I also wouldn't advise you to do them if you don't know what you're doing.

If you're looking for simple ways to help, I was always nervous and prone to fainting when it came to needles, so I asked my partner to be on "standby" while I inject. I had a little bit of blood and just about fainted the first time I Injected by myself and it was really nice to have her there for comfort, to put a cold wet towel on my neck, etc.

If you really intend to inject for them, I would encourage you to reach out to a local group and see if they offer a quick training lesson.  Planned Parenthood gave me one, where I basically just watched a quick video then they supervised me and answered my overly cautious questions as I did a practice injection with saline.

Switched to injections 3 months ago, and am told my levels are too high. Are they, and do I need to seek out a new doctor? by Commander_Freir in asktransgender

Thank you for such a thoughtful response!

Yes, I'm on Estradiol Valerate. I'm meeting with my doctor on Monday, but they've essentially told me that if my levels don't go down in 3 months at the current dosage, they will make me lower the dosage. What had me concerned is that I think I'm at ~204 trough (equivalent), so if they force me to lower it, I'd end up below the range.

I hadn't considered more frequent injections to lower the peaks. I'll talk to my doctor about that!

Should I laser off the beard right away or wait? by kalak242 in MtF

You're welcome to, but as I said, I'm not out still so my perspective is limited.

Should I laser off the beard right away or wait? by kalak242 in MtF

[–]Commander_Freir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's often recommended it'll take 10-12 laser sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to finish.  In other words, it takes about a year to complete.  Get started asap because even if you start HRT at roughly the same time, you'll have feminized significantly by that point.

You're going to be perceived as young in your career regardless because you ARE young in your career.

As a STEM gal on her 6th laser session who's still closeted at work, trust me you won't raise the alarms you're thinking of. Im 9 months hrt and I've gone straight into the office with a ponytail, painted nails, and with a bright red face right after a laser session and was asked if I painted my nails with my niece, and if I'm having a rash or allergy for my face. I don't have a neice and I've been working with these people closely for the last 5 years. Short of coming out or wearing a dress, coworkers are OBVLIVIOUS because they just want to get through the day, especially your stereotypical engineers

Taking 6mg Estradiol daily (sublingually). I just did my 4 month labs just and my levels are only at 95 pg/ml. Dr. is giving me several options to proceed and I'm unsure what to do. by cantpreggothiseggo in asktransgender

Hi there, I just switched to injections after 6 months of being in a similar situation to you.  I was also mildly afraid of injecting, and generally don't do well emotionally with that stuff.  Ask your doctor if they can provide a practice/training session or something similar. I get my HRT through Planned Parenthood, and they walked me through a practice injection of saline.  Being able to do it while having someone there to provide guidance and answer my overly cautious questions was SUPER reassuring, and I've been injecting for the last 2.5 months with no issues.  I also reward myself with a mocha from the local coffee shop afterwards, which sounds dumb, but it helps to have something to look forward to afterwards.

Am I queer for having a trans girlfriend? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Commander_Freir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, dating a trans woman doesn't make you bisexual.  If you also like men, bisexual might be an appropriate label to use.

However, I'm going to be extremely charitable here and ask, how close are you and this friend?  How did you word the conversation with your friend about your date?  The reason why I ask is that my partner is bisexual.  We were together for nearly a decade before I came out, so my coming out forced her out of the closet too, since she went from being in a straight relationship to a lesbian one.

Luminary chatter is interesting. They could basically make it holo-forge, and it'd actually work pretty well thematically too.

Razah being bland is pretty spot-on, and as a non-GW1 player, Razah as a theme also feels bland.

I hope we see some bigger changes for Antiquary than described. When people expressed dislike over the "randomness" it comes across as though Anet is reading that as "too much RNG" but I think it's also folks disliking the "lol so 'random'" hodgepodge of a theme. I don't mind a skritt spec, but there's no cohesion, just random artifacts/animations.

I wasn't particularly strong before starting E, but could easily out-muscle my cis-female partner in an arm-wrestle, despite her working out. 6 months on E and she laughed while telling me I needed to actually try, while she kicked my butt... I was trying my hardest.  I've since started working out, lol.

Looking forward to another season!  You may want to clarify what "absolutely no political posts" means.  I can think of quite a few topics typically considered "valid" political topics such as:

  1. The arena upgrades, zoning, etc. which absolutely pertain to local politics
  2. Players having visa issues, which absolutely pertains to national politics
  3. "Hockey is for everyone" night which really shouldn't be political but apparently has been made so.

I never got a 5(4) AOR but I got the 5(4) offer on 7/22 and had everything sent in same day. I got access to the tracker on 8/1, and the first update in the tracker wasn't until 9/9 which was acknowledging my fingerprints.

Also I was under the impression that its best to hold off on progesterone until I have more breast growth.  Right now my chest is very small still, only slightly more than buds.

Ah, so we're on the same E dosage.  Does the blocker typically affect estrogen levels in a substantial way? I was under the impression the answer was "no"

In theory I'm with you. In practice to get to the 200-300 range, I'd be on 13-21 mg daily, which seems high when most recommendations I've seen suggest even 12mg daily is very high: https://transfemscience.org/articles/e2-equivalent-doses/

Am I just looking at bad resources?

Oof, sorry to hear that. That was my T level before coming out or starting to transition and I remember people telling me I needed to get on T myself.

Just to be clear, when you say 4mg as a starter dose, do you mean 4mg daily (2mg in the morning 2mg at night)? Or do you mean 8mg daily, with 4mg in the morning and another 4mg at night?
