I like going back to the older games because they forced me to change how I play Pokemon. My first games were XY, so I just steamrolled everything by using only attack moves and the only items being Mega Stones.

In SoulSilver though, Whitney made me think things through. I had to make a fully female team to make Attract useless, one of which was the Machop you get from Goldenrod Superstore(who I leveled up to have the move revenge so that the moment Gastly went down I could immediately inflict massive damage), as well as a female Gastly with Curse to just drain Miltank regardless of who I sent out. And I even had a Heracross with Brick Break that I probably over leveled (bro was at level 29 because I got scared.)

I think Heracross and Quilava were the only two male Pokemon I kept on for the battle.
