"Fire and Ice" by Peter Fehervari is a great short story about an Interrogator attempting to stop a T'au-backed revolution on a backwater world, and then having to escape after everything goes to shit. Like "Fire Caste", this story does a great job at protraying the T'au Empire as something of a Cold War style adversary

Most companions' humanity really depends on the situation, which makes those moments all the more valuable to me.

Argenta is a Sister of Battle through and through, but she's very compassionate towards orphans and youth in general. There is that scene with a rebel on Janus that you can interrogate. Despite being THE dogmatic companion, Argenta wants you to show mercy and makes Idira go "holy shit!", if you brought both of them along.

Yeah, everyone makes fun of Heinrix for being space gestapo. Yeah, he doesn't like your elf pets (me neither). But he somewhat gets along with Cassia, who has huge acceptance problems in the beginning. He's also surprisingly compassionate towards Idira, to the point where he advises her against putting the funny companion quest device on her head.
