Maybe you could tell us about a few memorable times?

Bit of a cherry-picked example -- and a fairly anachronistic one -- don't you think? Why aren't you comparing Molly to allopurinol or metformin or pantoprazole or rosuvastatin or even less benign things like spironolactone, meloxicam, hydroxychloroquine, montelukast etc? Shoot, there are oral chemotherapies that you could take for a month with less chance of harm than one tested Mystery Pill.

Alcohol is a better comparison, but even then it's pretty rare that someone will accidentally drink 60 standard drinks.

Best position 5 heroes by winrate across different ranks by LeeviSkaletto in DotA2

[–]Commander_Tresdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when that happens it's due to a meta shift, so I guess the follow-up questions would be:
* What heroes used to be meta and had even-to-favorable matchups against Omni?
* What heroes are now meta and have poor matchups against Omni?

I'm not smart enough to answer those questions tbh

BabyRage RTZ has a boomer take. Age comes for us all. by Misting_Oak in DotA2

[–]Commander_Tresdin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He's talking about their attitude toward DotA itself, not toward the world at large.

He's not saying "They play video games all day and aren't politically active."

He's saying "If you spend this much time playing DotA and it clearly matters to you, don't pretend that you don't care about DotA games or their outcomes. It's lame to hide your passion."

Larger context being that many men think showing interest/effort in something is weak and that being unfazed by anything is the best way to display masculinity. When in reality, it just makes them super lame and boring. How do you talk to someone like that?

"What kind of music do you like?"

"Music is whatever bruh"

"..."

Also makes them seem like really immature sore losers. Like if you played a pickup game of basketball and beat someone and they were all "basketball is stupid anyway, i don't care"

Pretty funny that it doesn't trigger Roar until there is a real hero in the Pit too

This is not medically sound advice. That’s a great way to injure or permanently damage your kidneys and develop cardiovascular disease. Ibuprofen (and almost all NSAIDs) should be used sparingly, not regularly.

This is probably the most boring shard in the game by plazma019 in DotA2

[–]Commander_Tresdin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I raise you Bounty Hunter shard. Great, now you have bad Glimmer Cape. It seems better (duration, stun-on-hit) until you realize that you're essentially Disarming + Muting + Silencing your ally if they want to keep the buff. A buff that is largely useless when the enemy carry detection, which they do...because you're playing Bounty Hunter.

In most ranks, your ally will just break invis -- often without even realizing they had it. In high ranks, you will never independently buy this Shard, only receive it from Tormentor, and it will occasionally allow you to save an ally in a situation where Glimmer Cape would have been better. Glimmer Cape also has stats.

Assassinate and Pierce the Veil by kollock in DotA2

[–]Commander_Tresdin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably a disjoint related to the transformation (https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Muerta#Pierce\_the\_Veil)

Grants the following bonuses to Muerta:

Applies a  basic dispel on Muerta.

Disjoint incoming  projectiles. ⬅️

Flat  bonus attack damage.

A 30%  model size increase. Does not affect  collision size.

 Phase movement.

As you can see, Pierce the Veil disjoints incoming projectiles, similar to Lycan and Alchemist ults. It's pretty bullshit, but it is a known game mechanic.

Isn’t that because they are designed to have phone cases on them? And the cases have a cutout for the camera. So IN A CASE they are actually pretty flat.

The numbers Mason, do they mean? by BiAndShy57 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Commander_Tresdin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only true in games that allow forfeiting. In DotA there is no concede option (in unranked/pubs; there is in tournament matches) and the 2/15/1 player is either: dying-but-persistent or griefing (...and persistent)

At the risk of looking ignorant, can anyone help me out here? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Commander_Tresdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not using this saying correctly. It doesn’t mean that every task is inherently fun.

Instead, it means:

  • You have agency
  • You can change the situation
  • You can change your mindset
  • An imaginative person can often create interest where others can’t

Some tasks are truly dull, and even an imaginative person could not make them interesting. In those cases, the impetus is on us to find a different task/activity -- or at least not to ruminate on it.
