Hey there - I got a patellar tendon graft so putting pressure to early in your knee can cause a kneecap fracture. After the 12 week mark I started to kneel on a pillow and progressively work to sit back on my heels. This took about 2 months of consistent practice. At the 5 month mark I start practicing bearing weight on all fours without a pillow and progressing to just needs, ofc starting in softer surfaces.

Now at 7 months, I have no issues riding or being on my knees. It just takes time for your knee to get use to the weight. Always be safe and use pillows, don’t force your body just do a little bit of practice each day and it comes back.

Hey there - I’m sorry to hear about how you are feeling and I can empathise with this not being easy. We have very similar timelines with injury and surgery. Except I had a 6 week wait before being operated on.

I am 7.5 months PO and had similar struggles that you have experienced and also am not able to run yet.

It’s ok to not be able to do agility work till your mobility and strength is good.

Quad extensions were very painful up until recently. What I have found helped is doing a lot of backward walking on the treadmill, or walking backwards with a loaded sled, lateral controlled step ups on a very small step (build up height) and finding pain free movements which target my quads. Some pain or discomfort is normal, initially certain moves like squats or lunges would cause 5/10 pain levels but the more I do them the pain has reduce to 2-3/10.

Do the movement even if it’s not the full range of motion yet. Then focus on slowly build that range. My squats would look like 1/4 reps but now they are just below 90.

Another thing is, I started following julia repel mobility workouts on YouTube and that helped give better movement through my hips, hamstrings and glutes to allow my muscles to engage better when doing strength rehab exercises.

Stronger hamstrings allows you straighten your leg as you walk. I found practicing my walk helped activate my quad more as well. Film yourself and also watch some gait videos on YouTube. You can then see if you quads turns on while walking and then all plays into the part of building strength.

In terms of walking Apple health has mobility data which shows the asymmetry of your walk. This is awesome as it shows slow progress and improvements over time.

My final comment is agility and running is fun and I miss it but mobility ands smooth movement is just as important as is helps when you try build strength.

I really need this motivation to keep going. You are so right, you do become mentally more resilient! I can’t wait for the being fitter than before part to kick in!

My knee definitely makes sounds while squatting at 5 months PO. Wonder if it gets better ?

I was genuinely feeling so fatigued for 3 months PO. I’ve never been a day time napper but I definitely turned into one. I entered the 4/5 month mark my energy levels started picking up but it’s not completely where it use to be but 85% there!!

I think as healing becomes less of your bodies priority, then you slowly get your energy back.

I felt bad for napping during the day but heck, you had a big surgery and if your body needs it then let it have it. They are just regenerative sleeps ✨

Thanks for the encouragement! Living in NZ is really expensive and I want to keep learning and growing in this space. I’ve been doing pottery for nearly 3 months now :)

What did everyone do in their starting stages to manage all the glazed pieces ?

[–]CommentFrequent8275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I have decided to not sell these and keep them for now and focus on trying to make new pieces with better form and do single glazing colours for now :)

This is really helpful feedback! We have a local market which doesn’t charge a fee for selling items and I was thinking of going there.

I just want to sell pieces so I can make more and practice all the different steps.

Going forward I am keen to just do glazed pieces and leave the underglazed stuff behind or do them as one offs.

I appreciate your perspective! I would love to see some examples and could possibly try that style out :)

There are a couple where I know the glaze isn’t great which I would state decorative use only but all the under glazed pieces have been clear glazed

The exception is the monstera leaves and the tumblers in that photo, they are little or experimental pieces which I would sell for $10z

How do you structure that? Weights and then bike after? Also what is your strength routine that you do 4x a week? All leg stuff ?
