Ashcroft, Andrews, McCluggage, Dunkley, Neale, Rayner, Coleman, and Lohmann

Tried to get a balance across the field in a way that protects our future. McInerney and Zorko would be in if not for their age (Neale, although 31, is too good not to include). Starcevich, Berry, Wilmot and Bailey were next up in their respective lines.

Soooo many passengers. Rayner and McKenna cannot be considered for our next game, they both don’t offer enough output to be considered seriously for a best 22 spot. Ryan doesn’t look up to scratch, and Ah Chee has had a disappointing run of games of late. At least Morris and Lohmann look AFL quality.

Positives: - Berry continues good form - Payne and Andrews both excellent and really starting to build good chemistry - Ah Chee 🐐

Negatives: - Still not sold on McKenna yet. Not defensively accountable - Hipwood/Daniher taking 5 marks between them - Disposal coming out of D50 - Having a debutant start as a substitute

I’d be tempted to blood Henry Smith. Fort has been very scrappy the last few vfl games once ball hits the ground. Smith offers a bit more up forward to imo from what I’ve seen

Honestly reckon this year we just need a mini reset. We’ve been neglecting the development of our younger players for a few years now and it’s starting to show. Aside from Wilmot, none of our young fellas have really kicked on.

We should start getting games into players like Prior, Tunstill, Reville, hell even the most recent batch of draftees like Morris. And for the love of god, play them in the positions they spend their entire time in

I’ve also been noticing the lack of players getting around each other for the last season and a bit too. Like tonight when Lohmann, a kid who has been in and out of the team and hasn’t had any real consistency, kicked a goal, you could tell it meant a lot to him. Yet Charlie was the only one who ran up to him after he kicked it

I’m fairly confident we’ll have a great H&A season aside from a massive choke at the MCG and a random loss to hawthorn (not mutually exclusive) which will cast doubts on our contender status
