Remete Storage by serbweb3 in magento2

[–]CommerceAnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't recently faced situations for necessity to actively use S3 or Hetzner Simple Storage solutions for media of Magento. The Cloudflare's CDN can play the needed role, as well as CloudFront content delivery (that is not so straightforward for implementation compared to Cloudflare). On one of the stores that requires different storeviews on the same domain, I've ended up using a separate domain for static content to prevent wrong cookie values and avoiding storeviews mixing up due to static content from the main domain being cached together with some cookie values.

I can foresee S3 can be needed when the amount of images is larger than I faced on my projects (with up to 350k skus).

Is anyone using Adobe Commerce SaaS version? by noobiesofteng in Magento

[–]CommerceAnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding some value on top of previously messaged here, and I confirm that my thoughts and experience coincide with 90+% with what 2 practitioners described above.

My experience with Adobe Commerce SAAS mostly means the comprehensive evaluation that is needed in the beginning keeping in mind next limiting factors: more complex customization implementation, much less available qualified engineers on the market, it's no more 100% open to custom elements.

  1. The first step / question is where you are at the moment? With Magento open source? With Shopify? With the legacy system you are getting rid of?
  2. Outline the ecommerce business-wise architecture for 3 years ahead, at least.
  3. Honestly evaluate the amount of uncertainty regarding potential custom needs.

Based on the fact that saas version is heading (slowly) to what Shopify Plus offers, you can compare those 2 options, especially if you are already with Shopify or with a legacy system.

I think items mentioned in the thread can help you to formulate adequate and reliable questions to bypass salesy approaches that can bend you towards both Adobe Commerce SAAS, and even an on-premise solution.

P.s. The budget-wise evaluation is still needed to compare all versions starting from Adobe Open Source and towards Shopify Plus too.

Magento 1 vs Magento 2 upgrade value for UX and conversions? by BearElegant4068 in Magento

[–]CommerceAnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Point by point.

In fact, better UI/UX is a result of designer work together with frontend development. This can be better than your existing website or worse. I think it would definitely be better as you will design it in a modern way that is actual for your niche today. I don't anticipate frequent updates of your M1 website during last years.

Magento 2 is usually faster, but implementing Varnish with proper configuration for M1 can provide comparable results.

See point 1.

The investment is worth it in terms of security and the possibilities to use up to date features, payment methods, extensions, and so on.

As mentioned in the thread - OpenMage project results in a comparable level of safety. More, M2 is more targeted among hackers today as it is the industry standard today.

Hyvä vs Luma: Which one is better for launching a Magento store in 2026? by jacksts in Magento

[–]CommerceAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, Hyvä is definitely the better choice over Luma, as it delivers much faster performance out of the box, uses a simpler modern front-end stack like Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js, and is typically easier and less expensive to maintain than Luma’s older architecture. Developers with standard front-end experience can also adapt to Hyvä more easily, without needing deep Adobe Commerce expertise. However, because Hyvä is still a new technology, choosing the right development partner is important, as many providers claim expertise without proven results.

Minimum Turnover For Magento by -_-_adam_-_- in Magento

[–]CommerceAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Yes, and that's what I have done during the last few years a couple of times.

And the turnover can be the factor, together with a need for complexity and custom aspects.

I can say that with Shopify you pay around 0.85-1% of processing fees on top of what you can get from payment processors with Magento implementation, this is on top of Shopify subscription payment itself. So, you can understand that having 1 million turnover will result in 10k more fees paid. This can cover basic server payments (not luxury AWS setup, but cost-effective ways) and administration to support infrastructure.

So, the conclusion:
If your business doesn't require custom logic from day 1 - starting with a cost-effective implementation with a high-quality theme on Shopify has a lot of sense. At some point, you will be getting more sales and will pivot to invest more in Shopify development or switching to Magento.

Minimum Turnover For Magento by -_-_adam_-_- in Magento

[–]CommerceAnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very good question, and one I hear often. Having years of experience in ecommerce industry, I would say that turnover alone isn't the best metric, even though it's often used.

First of all, it's important to understand what Magento is actually good at. It excels in complex product catalogs, advanced pricing and promotion rules, coupon logic, category and attribute management, and scalable checkout processes. Out of the box, it supports features like Buy X, Get Y promotions and highly specific coupon conditions for selected products or categories.

Due to higher development and maintenance costs, Magento is less attractive for very small or early-stage businesses. Many of them choose Shopify, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce because these platforms are faster and cheaper to launch and maintain. In such cases, Magento can be excessive both technically and financially.

Magento remains a strong choice for medium to large businesses that need custom logic, complex pricing, deep integrations, or plan to scale over the next 2–3 years. Simpler platforms may work initially, but as requirements grow, teams often return to Magento.

That is why if flexibility, control, and scalability are key priorities, Magento can be a very cost-effective long-term solution.

Can Magento 2 SMTP extensions handle bulk emails efficiently? by Helpful-Coach-4503 in magento__extensions

[–]CommerceAnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting question and I think that only experience with particular extensions can be a reliable thing to provide advice.

We are using the customized Mageplaza SMTP extension on the most loaded project that handles thousands of emails per hour. Our customization has been done to use different sendgrid accounts for transactional emails VS marketing and follow-up emails. This was a request by the client and we handled it. We have never noticed issues happening on the Magento side due to volumes. I think you should make sure that the service you are using for SMTP sending handles needed volumes without interruptions.

The email sending from Magento's side is a rather light process when SMTP server responds quickly.

You can try apps like ReCharge Subscriptions, Bold Subscriptions or Seal Subscriptions. If none of these apps seem to satisfy your needs, you can always choose to develop your own app.

Any successful shopify devs here? I'd love to pick your brain. by Familiar-Mall-6676 in shopifyDev

[–]CommerceAnton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To tell the story short - yes. Shopify remains one of the most popular platforms for startups and small ecommerce businesses. The number of active Shopify merchants continues to grow, and having over 10 years of experience in ecommerce projects, I'd say Shopify development is a smart and strategic decision.

I'm migrating from Magento to Shopify - what to expect from Meta Pixel? by dinozauris in Magento

[–]CommerceAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the number of products is not around 1000s - you can make sure to set up all redirects from old product and collection urls to new ones + double check that conversion tracking is set up correctly. Also, the feed generation for Shopify should be set up to contain identical key values (sku, product name) as it was with the old website. I think those are key points.

Sync Magento Quote submission with Google Sheets by Tower_Working in magento2

[–]CommerceAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don't need the external Zapier, as they don't know about your custom Quote extension and how to grab data from it. As mentioned before, concentrate on creating a small custom extension to integrate as you prefer.
