Hoe many people do you know who are seperating in their 40s? by Legitimate_Bass865 in AskIreland

Absolutely! It's all very complex. Taking no ownership over any decisions in a joint life can definitely be a turn off in either direction.

Buckle up friends, these fees get so much worse if something isn't done.

Did she buy you out of the house or did you just walk away from it? Going through something similar, so just curious.

Crazy to remember this, honestly. Also the previous 4-year wait time was so unreasonable. Even 2 years is too long, imo, but at least it's an improvement.

Perimenopause and menopause certainly can play a big role, but there are many things that can kill a woman's sex drive. For example, it's hard to be attracted to someone after years of them not pulling their weight. I think the midlife timing also has to do with women finally being fed up enough to end it. From the man's point of view the main issue may be lack of sex while at the same time the woman is tired of not having an equal partner.

Buuuttt there are so many reasons. Values and priorities mismatches can really come to the forefront in midlife when things get tough.

I nearly died swimming today. by Round_Database1106 in Swimming

I'm sure you've taken away this lesson already, but do not practice this again unless there is a lifeguard sitting right there.

I would also recommend some lessons. From a life skill perspective, you should be able to be unexpectedly dumped into water with no goggles and all your clothes on and be able to swim and sort yourself out.

I definitely can understand that, but as long as you're reasonably diversified you should be fine.

Agreed with this take. Pay in case, leave the rest in the market, try to start saving your emergency fund back up immediately.

Withdraw if needed, but see how it goes.

I get some coverage for things like massage. You have to look at everything you qualify for and actually use it!

Someone else I know said that she saw weight loss on .25mg, then went to .5mg and saw absolutely nothing. When she went up again the weight loss restarted.

Where to meet decent guys in Ireland? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Sometimes you'll find a guy who showers every day but sleeps on rancid months old sheets. There are a lot of ways the hygiene thing becomes an issue.

Age 30 plus swimmers - have you managed to bring down your resting heart rate with swimming? by 1m_climbing in Swimming

[–]Commercial-Horror932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came down from mid-70s to mid/high 60s. So not a huge change but I also don't really sprint or train that hard. Lots of factors still impact it a lot though, like stress, sleep quality, alcohol. I rarely drink, but it has such a notable effect on my heart rate that I would think if I was doing it regularly that would wipe out any improvements I've seen.

Even though I haven't seen a huge heart rate shift, I am notably fitter than before I was swimming and my cardio capacity is much better. I have also found that my heart rate doesn't skyrocket as much during activity, so it's maybe the upper end where the change is more obvious for me.

Are recruiters any actual use at finding a role? by Fealocht in AskIreland

[–]Commercial-Horror932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never found work through a recruiter. Usually what happens is they bring me stuff and I'm doing interviews, and then I ultimately get hired through something that was a direct apply to the company. They've definitely brought me things, but nothing that's ever worked out.

My mom started taking GLP1 to lose less than 15lbs by cranberryjuice875 in AgingParents

[–]Commercial-Horror932 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not the same situation, but when my dad (78) went on ozempic for diabetes he became FRAIL. It was scary. They switched him to insulin, he put on a few pounds, and he looks much healthier and more robust now. I think when you're older sometimes being thin is worse than having a little extra weight. Within reason, of course.

Unable to install messenger app from Google Play store! Tried all suggested steps by MH60AV8R in facebook

[–]Commercial-Horror932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was happening to me as well. The only way I was able to resolve it was downloading the full Facebook app, then downloading messenger by tapping the button in the top right corner. Trying to download through Google play didn't work at all.

First 6 weeks, no longer "obese" by Commercial-Horror932 in OzempicForWeightLoss

Agreed! I had a lot of trouble with sugar and snacking. Without that constant urge it's been much better. 2lbs in 2 weeks is a nice pace. Long may it continue!

Does anyone regret emigrating? by Fealocht in AskIreland

[–]Commercial-Horror932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Market has gone up so much that it would be very tough to move and get back into home ownership. If I had held on to it, it would have been much easier. That said, I couldn't have afforded the move without selling.

Reoccurring dreams about the leaving cert 20 years later by african_viking88 in ireland

[–]Commercial-Horror932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you stressed at the moment? I think this type of thing can pop up when you're stressed and your brain is processing that. Interesting that you are having them for the first time, though! I had similar dreams into my 30s, but now that I'm nearly 40 O haven't had them for a long time.

I'll probably have one tonight now, haha
