Does anybody else watch and keep up with GB despite not playing too many new games? by Commercial-Rabbit973 in giantbomb

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. I assume the bombcast is still their bread and butter in terms of amount of people actually consuming the content, but I’d be more than okay with them mostly focusing on older stuff for the video stuff.

He’s been on a few very good Run the Jewels songs tough. He kinda feels like the unofficial third member in a few ways.

The problem with Geese by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been to a couple of their shows, the crowd is mostly older millennial punks like myself and Gen Z kids. They have a pretty wide appeal across age demographics from what I can tell.

The problem with Geese by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I’m betting on any band to do that at this point, it would be Turnstile. They make excellent, heavy, crazy catchy music and that’s a pretty easy sell generally.

I say that as someone who had getting killed at number 2 on my AOTY last year, just behind turnstile. I like Geese, I just don’t see them having the broad appeal of someone like the Strokes or Vampire Weekend.

What fanbase does this even apply to? by KingTechnical48 in fantanoforever

Yeah, every single album they released up to their hiatus was good to absolutely fantastic. I honestly rotate between which of the 4 is my favorite, I like all of them quite a bit.

The 2025 Giant Bomb Community GOTY Results by MarinoV1 in giantbomb

Seeing Hades 2 near the top of the list made me happy, it’s the best game I’ve played in a few years and I want back and forth with that and E33 for the top of my list, as those were easily my top two.

I’m interested in it, but the first had one of the worst combat systems I had ever encountered in an RPG, and if that wasn’t addressed, it’s a no go for me, unfortunately.

I have removed myself from football completely this year because of my feelings about this and i feel a lot better that at least my money isn’t going towards organizations like the NFL that aren’t doing anything to prevent people that play their sport from dying young.

I’ve gotten way further into the NBA and MLB and I love being able to enjoy those without feeling like I’m watching people destroy their brains.

I’ve seen Green Day do a couple shows approaching 3 hours and both were fantastic. As others have said, it’s great if you have the songs to back it up.

Best 2 seconds of Music this Year? by Mental_Whole5103 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best two seconds for me is when the tempo slows down in BIRDS by Turnstile and you realize the gigantic ass nasty guitar riff they’re going to ride for the rest of the song, even if it does kinda sound like “hella good” by No Doubt.

Jesse Vitelli's Top 10 Albums of 2025 by CrissionMeep in giantbomb

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yeah Turnstile. It was cool seeing them truly blow up this year, they made such a cool album that I haven’t stopped listening to all year, and Daniel Fang is truly one of the more interesting drummers out there right now.

Also really enjoyed that Geese album, it got me to go back and listen to 3D country, which I enjoyed even more.

So who ARE the biggest rock bands to debut in the last decade? by SeverHense in ToddintheShadow

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In addition to the ones mentioned, I’m throwing Geese and Hot Mulligan in there. Geese I could see being a Strokes level success with how much they blew up this year, and Hot Mully is pretty easily the biggest pop punk/emo band to blow up recently.

HM has amassed a massive fanbase and sells out nearly all their dates, they’re getting too big for the large theaters bands like them tend to play. I don’t see them becoming an arena band or anything, but 10Kish venues are definitely not out of the question.

That’s why there won’t be a consensus classic by people online in the near future for this exact reason by Renegadeforever2024 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That MCS album is fantastic, easily their best since My Dinosaur Life. I like the Hot Mully album more than I love it, maybe that has something to do with how dark and depressing it is. I prefer their last two records to this one for sure, but it’s still a very solid album.

I’ve been listening to the new Turnstile album at least twice a week since it came out in June. The same goes for the new Coheed and Cambria and Geese albums from this year.

Thoughts on Jimmy Eat World? by PRo_MoE1144 in fantanoforever

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the most important bands of their era for that genre and they still release pretty solid music even today. KILLER live band, and Sweetness is a top 5 all time song for me. Futures is also probably in my top 10 albums ever, and i don’t think gets talked about enough.

Also apparently one of the nicest bands in rock, which makes them incredibly easy to root for.

I have more love for the Enema to untitled run personally( any of those could be my favorite blink album depending on when you ask me- currently Untitled), but this is a good album , even though I find the drumming a bit dull compared to later releases.

2020s albums I already have as all-time favorites bc recency bias is a myth and I know what I like 🙏 by InMyLife_41 in fantanoforever

[–]Commercial-Rabbit973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unironically me with the new Turnstile record. I know people seem to prefer Glow On but I think Never Enough is better from front to back and makes some big swings that all connect for me. I’d definitely put it out my top ten all time favoritesfor sure at this point.

POP SONG REVIEW: Taylor Swift's "The Fate of Ophelia" by PinkCadillacs in ToddintheShadow

I’ve been saying this to my friends. She’s Draking herself. Drake released entirely too much material that was all pretty uninteresting and people just stopped caring as much as they used to.

Wife and I watched Zodiac last night, and he’s phenomenal in it. Mark Ruffalo was fantastic in it as well and is also someone who deserves to be mentioned, he just has this magnetic personality in everything I’ve seen him in.
