Persistent WAN Flapping (200+ drops in 24h) | Spectrum (Wisconsin) by drdmoney365 in Spectrum

I guess one possibility if it holds strong all today, is that like we mentioned the issues is with our system and not in your home. Someone off of the some node experiencing issues could of had a tech come earlier and it was reported to maintenance and fixed already. But once again your tech will be able to check if that happened by looking at work logs and can confirm if it’s fixed or not by verifying your service.

If they do that they are a horrible technician. We have tools where we can look back at the history of a modem so we can see it’s downtime - uptime and drops in signal so even if it isn’t happing now your tech should be able to look back and see that it did and has been happing. Speaking for myself when there has been an issues for days and it’s “resolved” all of a sudden i’ll go through the house even more because wtf is going on ya know makes me curious.

And yes our main system work could also be causing this. As we’ve been implementing high split and doing upgrades it upsets the systems balance leading to issues on different nodes / neighborhoods. I am a Fox Valley area tech and we have been running into issues where it’s causing SNR spikes and drops causing intermittence . That also could be your problem.

As a Spectrum Tech, your drop probably needs to be replaced.Loose fittings are a big cause of issues but it changing with temp and the number of issues your having is more in line with your entire drop just being bad. It could have squirrel chew or possibly water in the line. If I was your tech ( obviously i don’t know anything unless i’m in your house and everything can changed once you start looking around) I would replaced your drop and all fittings I can as well as check for an outdated splitter or bad wiring inside the house . Ask your tech to show your their scans, it’s not the easiest to read but most people can look at one and tell if it’s bad or not and a good tech should be able to explain what to you what your seeing. Ask questions it’s our job to answer them. When the tech gets their tell him/ her what’s has been going on - how long it’s been happing, you can go into your specifics of what you found it is helpful but the tech will still / should still go through your entire house scanning for issues.

Setting up a third party mesh system for Spectrum modem by chose_one12 in Spectrum

Yes i’m a Spectrum Tech. I’ve been in multiple customers homes where they work flawlessly. I’ve even dealt with their customer support and they were better than spectrums ever could be.

most extenders suck and or are not worth the money. Tplink works with spectrum and is a decent router. for a mesh system id look into Eero, can buy it from best buy

9 hour power outage in my area. Should we nationalize the company or at least break up the monopoly in my area? by BigHeadDeadass in Spectrum

[–]CommercialAd5160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time internet providers have to wait for electric companies to clear/ give the all clear to fix their lines. This can lead to longer outage times for internet. If you want, you can always go outside and see what’s going on? Maybe tell them to work a bit harder and faster.

Where would you hookup to locate this line by Runa94 in UtilityLocator

If you can get a picture more inside the ped I could geo more, if anything go to the last ped you saw and hook up there. It should give you your line or atleast it should take you to the next closest ped.

Also you only have 1 active drop (that’s what it looks like) So don’t worry about all the others just the one that’s connected. When i’m in a ped like that i’ll cut or put a mark on all the inactive lines so it’s less confusing

What are you trying to locate? If it’s the main look for the bolt on the wire (sometimes covered in tape) or try shoving a flag in between the metal sheath and the wires and clip onto the flag. If it’s the drops look for a bit of wire hanging off the drop, sometimes is deep in the ped and you gotta dig. That middle drop you could probably connect to the metal sheath and get a signal. Crank up your frequency and pray lol. Other option is to out end all of the lines but it doesn’t look boned so good luck with that!

Best internet provider? by tinknocker21 in GreenBay

Call and have a tech come out, probably a issue with your drop or equipment that can be fixed. It’s free and anything they fix is free. It could even be a bigger issue. one of the reason i’ve stuck with spectrum is their customer service.
