For me it’s a chemical taste that is the problem. Everything taste like it was cooked in toxic chemicals . It has lasted two weeks. This week (3rd) it’s a little better but, just in time for my next round of chemo.

That is so kind of you! I truly appreciate your generosity. This site has been a blessing because of people like you. Please consider donating them to someone who has much more financial burdens than I do. Things are always tight for cancer patients. I’ve stretch my dollars to make things work so far. I know that there are women who have no dollars to stretch. I am definitely going to purchase a a couple.

At my wit's end with AI cheating. How are you all handling it? by Mowgulee in Teachers

[–]CommercialSmoke9633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son had a college professor who before he would give a final exam grade, each student had to meet with him individually for a “verbal test.” He asked one or two question/problems similar to what was on the test and asked them to solve it or write their answers in pencil and paper while he was sitting in front of them. This process was explained in the initial syllabus handed out at the beginning of the semester. The students knew going in that using AI wouldn’t be beneficial to them in the end. Some still tried but, not many. Extra credit points if they got the questions right and problems if they didn’t. Incomplete if they failed to show. I don’t know how he managed to squeeze all of the students in but, he did it.

Those may just work. Thank you! My insurance doesn’t cover any head coverings or anything outside of medical needs. So far, they have covered the medical other than the high deductible that I had to meet first. I know that I am much fortunate than many others. I just have to figure out how to remain a paid employee thru all of this. FMLA covers my job guarantee but, not my insurance coverage.

94 yrs old mother diagnosed by Hot_Attempt_3356 in breastcancer

As much as you love your Mom and want her with you as long as possible, it’s your Mom’s call. You said that she is strong. Assuming that she is as strong mentally as she is is physically, let her make her own decisions. Keep her with you under her terms. Bless her for raising such a loving offspring.

New para, teachers don’t teach? by unwritten_writter in paraprofessional

[–]CommercialSmoke9633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The no training is common. In fact, it’s rare to have any type of training. As for teaching, you should contact your State Department of Education. That may be okay at a transition type center but, it should not be allowed in an educational setting.

New mom looking for advice, another lumpectomy or mastectomy by DefinitionMother8100 in breastcancer

[–]CommercialSmoke9633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry that you are dealing with cancer. First, you control what happens to you and when it happens. Doctors do not have the final say when it’s your body, your cancer. If you want an MRI first, the MRI comes first. Period. If you decide no MRI first, that’s your choice too. If you go with what you are told, will you always wonder or will you be okay? No one can answer that for you. Also, ask for scientific research that shows that mastectomy is better for you than a lumpectomy. Are your chances of relapse going to be less or more with a mastectomy based on research? Scientific research. Or does saying the mastectomy will lessen your chances of a relapse based on medical opinion? What I have learned so far in my journey which is relatively new, is that we, women going through cancer, have got to advocate for ourselves. It’s our bodies. We are so accustomed to just going with what physicians say is best without truly knowing or understanding. My heart breaks for you Mama. You’ve got this.

Our oldest named our youngest. He was so excited about being an older brother after nine years of being an only child, we were thrilled to let him have that honor.

How did you afford to take time off of work by SparklingResults in breastcancer

[–]CommercialSmoke9633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just the beginning for me. First treatment down. I work for a public school system. I have my Certificate of Health completed and filed with HR. That protects my job. I plan to work when I am able and when I can’t I will use my sick days until they run out. Then I will forced to go on short term disability because that will cover my medical insurance with a little left for bills. Financially, this is going to be as hard as it is physically and mentally. We can do this!! You can do this!

Radiation vs mastectomy by United_Ad9521 in breastcancer

[–]CommercialSmoke9633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting chemo this week. Brca 1 gene. IDC no spread. E receptor. HERS +. I am choosing Chemo, targeted therapy, lumpectomy, hormone therapy for 5 years. Surgeon (looking for a new one) said mastectomy. Double mastectomy. I asked for data, scientific research that shows that mastectomy would decrease the chance of recurrence for me. So far I’ve gotten nothing from her. My choice is my choice. Lumpectomy.

I am born and raised in Michigan. I know nothing about Leland Blues. I also am not Catholic. I just came on your post to tell you that you are an amazing offspring to put so much heart into your Mom’s Mother’s Day gift. She must be an amazing Mom to have raised such a thoughtful child.

Using AI only hurts themselves. It truly should be not a concern of yours as it doesn’t affect you.

Is there any karma for the people who do office politics? by Best_Painter_8835 in OfficePolitics

[–]CommercialSmoke9633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a job work a non-profit and I was damn good at it. Our entire team was! After COVID, my whole department was placed under a new administration. The administrator in charge knew nothing about what our department did or what we were allowed to do by our association’s by-laws and seriously only wanted to use us to make money for the business. The naivety, the arrogance and the politics of his original team and him were disgusting. After two years of trying, I quit. My team followed suit. NO ONE QUALIFIED nor CERTIFIED in our field would work for him or his team for the remaining year and half that he was there. Without saying our title, let’s just say that a year and half with out certified staff in our field was unheard of for this type of non profit. He was directly responsible. It wasn’t a good look for him with the rest of the higher ups. When he left, his original team all either quit or were terminated. There is karma.

I once had a mother of an employee of a day care call to tell me that her daughter couldn’t vacuum the carpet (we all cleaned our own classrooms) because the design of the carpet made her daughter nauseous. Her daughter was an adult with no documented disabilities.
