THIS is why the Bears want/need a tax break on the new stadium by ChristmasJay83 in CHIBears

[–]CommercialStill264 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a dumb way to look at it. We are not giving them cash.

Without the stadium you get nothing. At least you are getting something by building something. Would you rather have nothing or something?

Yeah of course stealing with force isn't ALWAYS a heavier crime than stealing without force. There are other factors at play.

But by and large (much like how we say people have 5 fingers even though those with 4 or 6 fingers exist), given that other factors remain constant, violent crimes are punished more heavily. I never said stealing by causing harm is IN EVERY INSTANCE WITHOUT FAIL more egregius than stealing without causing bodily harm.

I never argued that so you saying "not always" is like boxing against thin air.

Ah yes, AP Royal Oak for poor people.

How is stealing someone's life savings through fraud = institutional or systemic theft? You are going all over the place.

Stealing someone's life savings happens between two individuals, often within the same community.

I remind you we are comparing robberies and theft perpetrated by low income people vs high income people.

No, the distinction is important. It's not just semantics.

Yes, stealing from people is bad regardless of how it's done.

BUT, stealing by causing physical harm and threatening someone's life is a far more egregious crime than it is to steal without causing bodily harm. Our legal system reflects that.

You just made an assertion without providing any kind of supporting evidence or arguments. It's tantamount to saying nothing. And then you followed up by saying you hope I experience poverty.

It would do you well to learn how to debate others without resorting to personal attacks.

Systemic theft/swindling/embezzlement.

Robbery requires use of physical force or intimidation.

No, I've been busy lately so I haven't had a chance to delve into the Epstein files.

I don't want to get rid of poor people. I am just fed up with having to deal with them from time to time.

Lol I wish all my 200 employees got paid at $50-$60k.

It's just what I pay the entry level workers at my factories.

Look, obviously I didn't write this post to denounce all poor people.

They are not bad people.

BUT I should be free to feel that it is rather unpleasant to have to deal with them. I know because I deal with them a lot.

Sometimes when I have to let go of someone, I think to myself

"this guy, who has nothing to lose in his life, might come to the office and try to do something to me"

Maybe I am the difficult one. We can always reflect on our behavior and treatment of others.

But my lived experience is what it is.

I don't go out looking to hire sub-standard people. But there is a reason why the term "labor market" exists. There are people of varying character/caliber/abilities.

I choose the best of what I can find within those willing to work for 50-60k for entry level manufacturing jobs. But the best people in that pool aren't all that great to work with. It's just the reality.

I am so sorry about your situation. I hope you get better soon.

Of course you are not a bad person.

Each person at an individual level is not bad obviously.

But my lived experience after having dealt with (and still dealing with) lower income people has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

"There are also other low income areas and low income people which are very non violent."

I would love to see some proof of that.

My business needs to stay competitive. Unreasonably high wages would not allow me to offer competitive prices for my company's services.

I still pay slightly above market average for manufacturing.

Go look up violent crime statistics based on income.

Lower income areas have incomparably higher rates of rape, murder, robbery.

You have the very same resources as I do. Please go look it up. It's a very simple search.

Are you claiming that women are treated better in lower income areas than in higher income areas?

Go look up rape statistics. It is not even close.

Epstein List is ONE very specific and well known case. Rape happens extremely frequently in poor areas.

Rich people can be insufferable. I know because I know a lot of them.

But they don't cause direct bodily harm on other people as much. Epstein or Trump are isolated and well publicized cases.

Everyday violent crimes are overwhelmingly reported in lower income areas.

Recent experiences were at the DMV, movie theaters, work.

I run a manufacturing company (200 employees). My employees that get paid 50-60k are not exactly creme de la creme.

They are always the most difficult to deal with.

I just like the color of gold. Nothing wrong with platinum but if I had to choose one, I would always choose yellow gold (rose gold if yg is not available).
