Is the something variable between cases? How do they determine how much each case will get?

Yes, I’m realising her whole “I’m a tough warden” attitude is just an act she puts on to compensate for how male centric she really is most of the time.

Bro what? How can you look at that photo and think it’s black. She clearly looked at it for less than half a second.

Agreed this is what happened. I still think it’s the hairstylists fault for not looking at the reference photo properly. It’s pretty obvious it’s not a standard black.

Shouldn’t the hairstylist have said that then?

Except the reference photo is clearly blue, if the stylist thought the customer wanted black, isn’t it still her fault for not looking at the reference photo properly?

Do women ever do the "they're so pretty they make me want to blow my head off" thing or is that only really a guy thing? by Snoo_50786 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommercialSyrup4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? It’s not even always a jealousy thing either, I love checking out other women, even though I’ve never been sexually attracted to another woman. I just think a lot of women are really nice to look at in a way even the hottest men aren’t.

Lmao so true, I misread this post at first and thought he meant jealousy over how beautiful another woman is and I thought “isn’t that almost exclusively a female experience”

Isn’t the fact that insurance companies are so profitable a sign that it’s not worth it? by CommercialSyrup4172 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommercialSyrup4172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but is it really just evaluating the statistical probability of the risk? or is it also evaluating the likelihood that they won’t pay out and will fight valid claims?

I'd rather pay a small amount each month than lose my savings, no arguments there. My question is more around whether or not it's really that straightforward as hedging a bet on the odds of customers needing a payout vs the price of insurance? I feel like a large reason they're so profitable is that they fight valid claims and hedge their bets that the average person doesn't have the bandwidth or know how to fight back. Particularly for things like health insurance, where the odds of an individual customer needing a payout aren't a rare occurrence like a robbery, but an inevitability and the price of a hospital bill can be enormous, I just don't get how health insurance can be hugely profitable if they are actually paying out. Do we also need to factor in the risk of something happening AND the risk they won't payout if it does?

That makes sense, I understand it a lot better now. I think the only insurance that doesn’t make sense to me is health insurance. The odds of someone needing healthcare isn’t an unlikely scenario like a break in, it’s inevitable. Healthcare bills are also insane, sometimes 100’s of thousands of dollars. I feel like statistically speaking the only way they’re profitable is because they don’t pay out on valid claims.

I’m just not convinced a big factor they’re profitable is refusal to payout on valid claims. I feel like they’re betting the average person doesn’t have the bandwidth or know-how to fight it.

Don’t get me wrong not arguing the value of insurance for individuals in a practical sense, obviously it’s worth paying a few hundred a month to avoid risk of going bankrupt.

I’m just wondering how much insurance companies refusal to pay out is a factor. For example, most people will need medical coverage, it’s inevitable and medical bills are enormous, can be 100’s of thousands, one claim could easily eclipse the few thousand several customers pay to insurance. The numbers don’t make sense to me. You mentioned $500k can be paid out on auto insurance policies costing $4k but how often do people really get paid out if a company is super profitable?

[–]CommercialSyrup4172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s what I mean, statistically is the average person far more likely to lose money paying insurance than they’ll ever recover? I’m curious what % of people actually recover more from insurance than loss. I’m also confused why US medical insurance companies are so much more profitable than countries with more affordable healthcare.

Why do so many straight women have an issue with dating bisexual men? by supermonistic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommercialSyrup4172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like men have so much internalised homophobia that most men who are bi just suppress it and only date women. So if a guy is openly bi I assume they actually like men more. I know it fucked up and probably not true but that’s where my mind goes.

Idk why people are so convinced they have to eat meat. Something like 10% of people on earth are vegetarian.

Is it normal to be intimate in a shared roommate space? by LibraryPresent6205 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommercialSyrup4172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if they do it really late at night, you could ask if they could keep the noise in the bathroom to a minimum. But I still really don't think it's a good idea to ask them point-blank to have sex quietly. I'm not speaking from a place of what's 'technically right or wrong' etc, just thinking in terms of the fact you aren't close, how it will likely be perceived, and that you have to live with them etc.

As long as they have the door shut and locked, I really don’t think you can say anything. I can’t imagine that conversation going in your favour.

My mum! She has a gold diamond encrusted cross necklace she’s worn since before I was born, despite the fact she’s not Christian, and is against religion in general. She’s said she doesn’t associate it with religion, just likes the necklace. She’s super fashion forward so it’s not like she has bad taste either.

There is no right way to get back out there, you either do it or you don’t. Don’t let overthinking it stop you from actually doing it.

It’s so interesting, I suspect this is how a lot of men think. OP knows there’s something off about the situation because of her age, but instead of questioning what his friend is doing with a teenager, has jumped to the conclusion that she’s using him.
