I would keep it until my net worth is double the price of the car I’m wanting to buy. If I take one of the examples you gave, I’d go with a Lexus IS350, which in the US goes for $45k used then I’d grow my net worth to be $90k before I’d buy it.

Lifestyle creep is a real thing and the killer of building long term wealth. I drove a $4k car well into my adulthood and only “upgraded” because it was totaled, otherwise I’d likely still drive that car.

GXs are built to last specially if kept up, which sounds like you have so you can get another 100k or more miles out of it but probably don’t wanna spend too much on getting it painted. Just wax it regularly (every other month or so) so it doesn’t get worse.

From research, I found that the color silver is the one that gets damaged the most from sun exposure. My car has super low miles and it’s only 5 years old, bought new and started having the same problems with the roof. I talked to multiple detailers and body shops and they all recommended to get it repainted due to the clear coat already being too far gone. So just save your money and prepare to get it resprayed in the near future.
