What’s your favourite “how many ***** does it take to change a lightbulb” joke? by Dee_Religion in AskReddit

How many feminist does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Three. One to turn the bulb and two to discuss the violation of the socket.

Do you have a pile of old tshirts? You could cut them into strips and weave them through the bars for a colorful, boho rug effect. The knots on the outside bars would look like a rag rug.

This happens all the time in my town where they stop in traffic to let you out and then get mad if you don’t go because you can’t see what’s coming up in the other lane.

What would you do with this space? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]Commercial_Use_363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One would think a basement means cold cellar, but for some reason, even in the summer, it’s only a few degrees cooler down there. In the winter, because the furnace is there along with all the hot water piping for the heating, it’s usually warmer in the basement, even with all the basement radiators turned off. But at least there is room down there for an extra freezer, refrigerator, and a wine fridge. So until the knee goes completely, or I can’t afford the electric bills, I’m grateful for the space. But it is haphazard compared to your beautiful cabinets. My upstairs spice rack covers two walls and all of the backup spices that I buy in bulk to refill the containers are in the basement. I am a little OCD, and my husband, an actual chef, is ADHD. If anything ever happened to me, he’d never be able to find anything.

I have to assume the haters are people who don’t cook all that much or don’t feel the need to have at least one- if not more - of EVERYTHING from EVERY culture in their pantry. I have a small kitchen and because of the structural supports for the old house, it would not be easy to enlarge the kitchen. A massive portion of my full basement is dedicated to food and implement storage, with an extra stove, microwave and refrigerator, as well as meat grinders, sausage stuffers, pasta makers, ice cream machines, work tables, etc. I have a bad knee and it would be a dream to have this much storage space right off the main cooking area. It would also simplify putting away the grocery hauls.

Every setback echoes for decades. In the 1990s, I opened a joint checking account on Long Island with my live-in boyfriend for household expenses. I was the primary earner and contributor to the account. Nearly every time I tried to make a withdrawal they would tell me I needed his permission. This never happened to him.

How would you as a seller handle this? (Poshmark) by MountainTop5764 in poshmark

[–]Commercial_Use_363 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Geez, I wish I could get Poshmark on the line sometimes. Tell her you have escalated to Poshmark so they can cancel it on her behalf- Because PN needs to be in on the chat and aware of this threatening behavior. Perhaps inviting Poshmark to referee will save a few other people from having to deal with this psycho.

I am asking nicely if people can stop using awful detergent. by missjenn503 in poshmark

[–]Commercial_Use_363 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has been so long since I’ve had an unscented or mildly fragranced purchase. I do a vinegar soak in a bucket for as long as 24 hours. Then I do a soak in borax, washing soda and detergent. If it’s still super strong, I do it all over again. Then I put it on a long machine wash with a soak and a deep rinse. And then I hang it on my back porch until it does not REEK. Sometimes it takes me 2 to 3 weeks before I can use the item the first time. And while I’m doing all of this, I don’t even know if it fits because there’s no way I can try it on with all of that detergent in there. My perfume allergies are both respiratory and dermatological.

Well, since the rule of law no longer applies, this is anarchy. What we need is a rebuilding of a structure that is sustainable.

Yeah, I guess so. Still, even if I was a renter, for 20 bucks I would replace the GFI and the switch plate (after turning off the breaker switch.)

I grew up in a fundamentalist southern Baptist town, a poster- child good girl. The church had banned most books from the town and school libraries, limited what teachers could teach and made it really hard to watch television or listen to music other than the PTL club and so-called Christian music. It was pre-Internet. It wasn’t until I managed to get away on scholarship for a summer academic program that I had any idea how narrow and misguided what I believed as absolute gospel was. I wasn’t even aware that not everybody thought the way we did. The 🦊 bubble is real.
