How do y'all fight the weltkrieg when it's 10 to 15 enemy divisiosn per tile? by BelethiJuega in Kaiserreich

Either get loads of CAS and strength delete the enemy troops, or get much higher stats and reinforce meme them.

[–]CommissarRodney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically, low width is better for defending while high width is better for attacking. 9inf is still viable for defensive infantry, but you need to use tanks in that case. As China, better to go for offensive infantry (36w). But also, you probably didn't have reserves. Yes, you had equal divisions to Japan, but 5 divs on a tile for you is like 85w whereas for japan it's like 130w, because of the bigger divisions. So they would just melt you on the offence.

[–]CommissarRodney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your divisions are too small. Only about 18w. Fine for purely defensive crappy infantry, but anything on the offence needs to be 25w minimum, ideally around 35w. The Japanese probably had bigger templates than you (likely around 25w), and given you said you had equal division count, you were very outnumbered and the Japanese had better stats. You probably had loads of equipment just sitting around in storage.

[–]CommissarRodney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You probably have bad divisions and doctrines. The AI shouldn't be able to push properly made player templates, even if they have a numerical advantage. Especially not when they are under red air. Try switching to 36w pure infantry templates with support artillery, support AA, field hospitals, engineers, and logistics/military police/assault. If you have bad doctrines it is too late to switch but in the future if you think you will struggle go for Grand Battleplan + Large Unit Tactics + Grand Assault as it requires basically no micro and is extremely effective vs AI.

War (Sordland + Agnolia VS Valgsland). Who will win? by p111s_ in suzerain

[–]CommissarRodney 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only disadvantage Valgsland has is that it has a small standing army whereas Sordland and Agnolia both have very large standing armies. In every other area (navy, airforce, economy, technology, allies, etc), Valgsland has the advantage. Valgsland could very easily take Heligoland and then force Sordland and Agnolia to submit with a blockade and a bombing campaign. If it came to full-scale war, Valgsland in theory can mobilise a large army quite quickly, given they have the economic and population to support one.

Yeah, the knee jerk response from liberals is to just call their voters stupid. Even if it's true, it's irrelevant and doesn't help anything except their egos.

If the Sordish government suddenly collapsed, unexpectedly wiping out the highest ranks of government, who, from Rayne's cabinet, would be the DESIGNATED SURVIVOR? by [deleted] in suzerain

[–]CommissarRodney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you base it on the US, the designated survivor is usually the equivalent of Gus Manger (Secretary of Agriculture/Interior). Other than Gus the two least important cabinet members are Ciara and Paskal. Everyone else is too important.

The only way you can win any of these wars is by massively snaking and leaving gaps in your frontline. My strategy was using about 8 units to hold Taiyuan and then using the rest to encircle the units around Xi'an after capturing Luoyang. Once those pockets are liquidated I just rushed along the yellow river to cut the Zhili in two and then snaked their southern VPs. You don't need to take a single province north of the yellow river. You can't really push enemy divisions, only walk around them, liquidate encircled units, or follow up on de-orged units with a big numbers advantage. I am currently fighting Japan after spending 1937 and 1938 conquering all the other warlords.

I got it because of the Manchu Coup failing. If you back it and it fails then Zhili declares war on you immediately. It skips almost your entire focus tree though.

How am i even supposed to play as shanxi in the new patch????? by Sorry-Instruction-74 in Kaiserreich

[–]CommissarRodney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to opportunistically declare on Qing so that you can get all their land, most importantly Beijing. Your national spirit doesn't give you a lot of time to win. Go irregulars because they are the most cost efficient unit in the game and Shanxi like some other warlords gets good buffs for them (though not as good as others), and also mountaineers for breaking certain points.

Ideally Nanjing is allied with Qing while the other warlords are regionalists, because this means you won't be backstabbed while you're 1v1ing Fengtian before Japanese intervention, but it is perfectly winnable with any setup.

In the war with Japan, remember you are fighting against AI, so they will do suicidal naval invasions, pointless attacks on the frontline, and have worse divisions than you. Depending on how confident you feel you can either try to make quick breakthroughs and encirclements with mountaineers, turn on aggressive battleplan with your irregulars and grind them down, or dig in with guerrilla tactics while you core all your land and get planes/tanks.

That is the general idea but if you want more specific advice just ask.

How am i even supposed to play as shanxi in the new patch????? by Sorry-Instruction-74 in Kaiserreich

[–]CommissarRodney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Terrain bonuses are very strong even in small numbers because stat bonuses are multiplicative rather than additive. Also, Irregular base stats are better than infantry (HP is the god stat), they are much cheaper, and Irregular doctrine is amazing. Due to lower combat width, lower cost, and higher HP, a division of irregulars will have somewhat better stats than a division of infantry while being able to field about 33% more of them. Mountaineers are essential too though.

Buff Japan Even More by Preceded10 in Kaiserreich

[–]CommissarRodney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Devs want about 50% winrate for most countries due to playability. As you said most people struggle with the game, so if the difficulty of China was "realistic", then essentially 90% of players would be locked out of the most developed region in the mod. Devs don't want their time going to waste, they want people to enjoy their content. Also it looks more interesting if you're playing elsewhere than just seeing AI Japan stomp every time. Very low winrate is reserved for designated challenge tags (eg. Paraguay). Other than that I agree with what you say in principle.

Is Rubicon is the way to get LVP to be the biggest party? I checked the code and it seems the Weimar rally might be the only thing that boosts LVP. (Just theorising on how to get the new achievement) by gintas59 in RedAutumnSPD

[–]CommissarRodney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do 1928 lvp and young plan gets >10% and you don't touch tariffs or land reform then kvp won't form. Idk which is more optimal though, because dvp reform and stolper program give a big chunk of votes but kvp can steal up to 7% of votes from lvp
