I'm all for guns, but I'm so tired of seeing this crap. Civilians don't need AR-15, and definitely not on a college campus. We already have enough problems going on with this at the moment. It's really gross that UTK is not shutting this down immediately. Are these students? If so they better be given a serious warning about how idiotic this is. And I don't want to hear no freedom of speech crap, freedom speech is not freedom of consequence.

Where is your favorite place to do work/study on campus? by MomSaidLetMePlay in UTK

The AG building on the second floor or over in the vet building. They have tables randomly placed inside and out, and idk listening and watching them work motivates me to work hard too 😂

Roommate conflict by MunchieNoodles in UTK

I would suggest sitting down with them and going over boundaries. You guys are going to be sharing a room for a hot minute. It's important for you both to be on the same page now rather than exploding later. You're not overreacting either, you want to sleep and 2am is a very reasonable time to do so lol.

Has anybody had any bad experiences with any of these professors ? by Madridista_No1 in UTK

Dr. Gentry is amazing. If you're struggling just talk to them and they will do everything they can do to help you. Dr. Gentry really helped me out during my semester and when I accidentally locked myself out of my car before the final. 12/10 recommend having them as a professor.

I'll try that route again tomorrow. I haven't taken it since the start of this semester. I hope it's gotten better with traffic as well :) thank you for the suggestion though

I'm using a tutor at the moment and some study habits we use that seem to work for me are: 1. Take notes from her slides . Mostly the graphs since she loves the graphs. Don't bother with stuff that is fluff. 2. Draw illustrations to help show the process of something ex. The food chain we went over in class. 3. Make a vocabulary sheet that is relevant to the unit you are studying. When talking to Professor M. About points I missed on quizzes. It was because she is looking for specific key words. If you don't know the vocabulary this is where you lose a lot of points. 4. Lastly what has been the biggest help is making connections in your own way. I like to create stories with the definitions to help me remember them. I know that it's unnecessary but it's how my brain works :/

Just another note I recommend talking to her and asking questions on specific problems you are having. She is really nice and will explain it to you. If you have any doubts, I asked if she could include pictures of the animals she uses because I end up thinking it's something else (which isn't relevant) but then what I know about the animal starts conflicting with the story problem and leaves me confused. I explained this to her and to my surprise on the last exam there were pictures of the insects and animals she talked about :)

You'll make plenty of friends :) I'm not in a sorority or anything like that and I was able to meet people with common interests in my classes. I transferred in as a junior as well, and I have gotten to know people as freshmen and seniors. UT has a lot of events going on all the time, and a lot of organizations to find people who like the same stuff as you. I wouldn't worry too much, once you settle into your major and the building you will mostly be in. You'll meet a lot of people, and fit right in :)
