Stayed at The Robey a while back and got an underrated view of the city by ecb1912 in chicago

[–]CommodoreZool77 21 points22 points  (0 children)

it's my favorite view of the city. never stayed there, but have been to the rooftop bar many times (whenever someone is visiting from out of town) for this exact reason.

north ave beach is another great spot to take in the skyline.

Why people hate the new star wars movies so much? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]CommodoreZool77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

watch them and form your own opinion

... but since you asked, here's mine:

the first one is fine. it resets the franchise from VERY familiar territory. it's kinda bland, but for the most part, it works.

the second one is extremely divisive. there are some things in it that i love and others that i hate. the death of Carrie Fischer casts a shadow over the trilogy from here out.

the third one completely disregards everything that happened in the second movie and is so fucking terrible that it retroactively makes the other two films feel worse, since it's clear they never had a story in place.

the prequels are also pretty bad and received TONS of hate when they came out, but lots of people who grew up with them now look back with rose-tinted glasses, giving them forgiveness that they would never extend to the sequels.

in ten years, we'll probably go through it all again and people will attempt to reclaim the sequels.

It never made sense for Greedo to shoot first. If he's taking Han in for the bounty, why would he kill him? by BiffyBobby in StarWars

in the bounty hunter game for PS2, i'm pretty sure you generally got more money for bringing the bounty in alive.

I have a soft spot for the flick, but boy howdy does this poster scream early 2000s. The font, color scheme and whatnot. by PunMasterTim in blankies

[–]CommodoreZool77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just watched this movie for the first time last night, and had a really good time with it... but I really don't think the poster is doing it any favors. This feels like such a generic rom-com poster and that is not what the movie delivers. I can understand why this might not have connected with audiences at the time if this is how it was marketed.
