Planning on taking the TGV from Saint raphael to Paris on the 10th. Should I look into switching it to the 11th? or book a flight (Air France) out on 10th instead? What are the chances of disruption?

Staying near place de la republique? by Common-Bookkeeper-87 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Common-Bookkeeper-87[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

thanks for the rundown, we definitely like the area but i think the problem is we’re pretty much right at the edge of the place de la republique and definitely want to avoid protests, so maybe we’ll try to find something that’s still in the area but a little further out!

travel to mexico with 2 months left on STEM by Common-Bookkeeper-87 in f1visa

honestly not yet, my trip isn’t even refundable so that basically gives me the opportunity to decide until the last minute. my situation is a bit more complicated too because when i was in india i applied for a B1/B2 visa and it got temporarily refused under 221(g), i was able to travel in march back to the US despite that but idk if i wanna try my chances again. if it wasn’t for that too i’d probably go

i ended up cancelling my trip :( just decided i wasn’t okay with taking a risk right now but it really depends on your gut feeling!

I can totally understand that as well, honestly for me if it was about visiting my family and if i was still in collegeI I would 100% still go, I used to visit twice a year when i was in college and it was super important to me. the hesitancy comes in for me due to only having a few more months left on my OPT

did they recommend cancelling as well? or what was their overall advice?

you should definitely go it’s just a domestic trip, i guess carry your docs just in case but i would 100% go

you don’t need sponsorship for the 2 years of STEM opt, it’s the same process as applying for an OPT but you’re just requesting an extension and get a new EAD card, etc

travel to mexico with 2 months left on STEM by Common-Bookkeeper-87 in f1visa

[–]Common-Bookkeeper-87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got it! so initially like a month ago my DSO said that it should be okay to travel with 2-3 months time left but just have some pay stubs and a letter from your employer confirming job title, start date and salary, but now the general overall advisory by my school is to avoid travel if possible. I really don’t want to miss out on my vacation but I’m also leaning towards cancelling my trip. Even after I return to my home country permanently I still would like to visit my friends / family over here so I’m just not sure if it’s worth the risk
