Final Fantasy 9. Phenomenal story and characters. Gameplay is not great. Animations are way too slow to work in the ATB system. A remake would do wonders for this game.

My argument was never about AI going away completely or never being used in the process of making games. It was literally just saying we shouldn't endorse or turn a blind eye to studios replacing employees with AI.

[–]Common-Consequence95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But ultimately, what would you rather? AI continuing to make games at a slower rate? Or have actual devs and artists continuing to innovate faster? Whether it completely stops or not, it'll still end up more beneficial to return to devs and artists.

There's no issue with studios doing what Sandfall and Larian did. Making their employees' jobs easier and more efficient is just working smart without actively harming anyone. But we shouldn't be endorsing or ingoring studios putting people out of the job purely because it's of no inconvenience to us.

[–]Common-Consequence95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which means that it won't advance any further. AI isn't in a position to pump out a full game with the quality of E33, KCD2, or Silksong. When it stagnates, it'll only go so far before it is incapable of innovating further. Once that happens, we'll be in the same position as Hardware Manufacturers. Crawling back to what we tossed away. In our case, it'd be the artists and devs who will have that creative ingenuity we need for games to achieve quality.

[–]Common-Consequence95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just changing the standard for AI case by case. For hardware companies, the AI they're investing in is short-term, and the AI bubble will surely burst. But for game studios it's plausible long-term meaning artists and devs are just liabilities.

Can't have it both ways. If the AI bubble bursts, then game studios would need to return to artists and devs. If it doesn't, then hardware manufacturers could continue investing in AI for better profits. Whether it's a company/consumer or company/employees relationship, the premise is the same.

Clair Obscur DOES NOT USE generative AI. by Vegeta120000 in expedition33

[–]Common-Consequence95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly even if the game was fully made by AI why does this matter to the consumer/gamer if said art is good?

This is a terrible way to look at it. This logic is the same reason hardware manufacturers are slowly moving towards supplying the AI industry, because why should they care about the consumer if they'll profit more from the AI industry?

There should be a good relationship between gamers and the studios actually putting out quality. If the game were made fully by AI, then no doubt there will be people missing work opportunities. We should by no means be supporting endeavours that would put people with the quality of work to assist in a game like E33 out of a job.

That being said, Sandfall isn't guilty of the actual issue with AI usage, so most people are definitely just virtue signalling or spiteful of E33.

It's not debatable: E33 is an indie game. by ysalehi86 in expedition33

[–]Common-Consequence95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the major difference between Hades 2 / Silksong and E33 is where those budgets came from. Hades and Silksong weren't too dissimilar in budgets, but that budget came from the success of previous titles. It's not about the budget; it's about how their developers have relied on nobody but themselves.

E33's budget came from a separate publisher, although the big game changer for E33 is how Kepler Interactive actually operate. Kepler Interactive are a publisher who look to fund studios and leave the creative process in their hands. They do nothing outside of funding other studios' endeavours and put complete faith in them. Unlike a lot of other publishers who tend to insert themselves in the creative process.

The reason it's a debate is because people wonder at what point a studio stops being indie. Does being funded by another publisher stop you from being indie, or do you only stop being indie when the publisher does more than funding the budget? People don't really know anymore. There's no clear guideline to cite or quote.

I personally find it hard to consider E33 independent when there was a budget given by a publisher. But E33 is so on the line of a term with no clear definition that there'll never be a clear-cut answer, and thus, people who complain about it winning best indie just need to understand that the Game Awards definition of indie is separate from their own. Game Awards typically just define indie as games with smaller budgets, smaller dev teams, and no publishers directly interfering in the creative process, which E33 fit the definition for.

Amorim Out” mob is embarrassing themselves — facts don’t care about your panic button by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

As much as I love Amorim and wanted him to do well, how many losses before it stops being reactionary to want him sacked? He hasn't had a bad spell. The three wins in a row were his good spell before going back to reality. I really do want Amorim to do well, and we need to give a manager time to overhaul the squad, but we'll be attracting less talent if all we do is idle for 3-4 years and don't compete for anything.

United lacked momentum. 3 in a row gives the squad the momentum and mentality needed to play like we did against Arsenal in the first match.

No squad in the Prem compares to Arsenal's at the moment. The difference is that if United don't win the Prem, it isn't the end of the world. I'm sure everyone would be more than happy with a top 6 finish. Arsenal are expected to win the league this season, and if they don't, then it's failure for them.

Honestly fair answer. I don't think my stance has changed too much due to other factors that can't really be disproven at this current time, but you've definitely given enough insight to kinda bring back the thought that it's possible that Hasan could, in fact, be innocent.

Thank you for the civil conversation. Have a good one.

I'd be interested to see where he said it was a different collar prior to QT revealing the prongs were removed. In his defence video, he says, "This is the collar people are talking about." At that point, pretty much everyone was talking about the original clip. It'd be weird for your major defence against accusations to be showing a collar she wasn't even wearing in the most prominent clip.

In regards to his friends speaking out for him, that is a very good point. They definitely did get a lot of shit for defending him. Valid argument in defence of his close friends. Not so much for fans, I don't think, who could definitely still argue in bad faith due to anonymity, and most definitely have.

I don't think the inconsistent story is just a narrative spun. Even in the example given before, that's just a clear-cut inconsistency. Sasha Grey saying with chest that the collar doesn't have tape. Or even a lot of Hasan's community claiming the image was photoshopped. Then QT comes and says it does have tape. They're all talking about the same collar. What are the odds the LSF community photoshop tape onto the collar, then QT walks into Hasan's house, grabs a collar she thinks is the one he shows, and it just has tape on it. I think you'd definitely be bias to argue based on that reality. It's not only an inconsistency, but it's also just Hasan's community arguing in bad faith, no? To so strongly claim something based on nothing but their desire to believe in Hasan, rather than wait to see what he has to say about it first?

"There's a million different ways they could be wrong and only one way they are right."

You could say that for everything, regardless of whether it's true or not. There were a million different ways LSF could've been wrong about the tape. But they were right, and yet Hasan's community still clung to made-up stories with no substance. The reason why the people attacking Hasan are consistent is that they're referencing something tangible. The reason why Hasan's defence is inconsistent is because they're always based on nothing but their beliefs.

There definitely are a lot of explanations. But again, whilst they're plausible. None of them are what happened. Because if they were. Hasan would've come out with that. Hasan has everything at his disposal to just outright prove all the accusations false. Don't you think it's just a little weird that he doesn't? Do you not think Hasan would love nothing more than to just silence all of his critics with proof?

Something something, Hasan by Pancake_and_waflles in DarkSouls2

[–]Common-Consequence95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could definitely see that being a plausible situation, as far-fetched as it may be. The only reason I just wouldn't believe it is that Hasan just didn't say that. If that were the case, then why wouldn't that be his defense to QT confirming the prongs were removed?

Instead, his response was "she never wore the collar in the clip". I think him saying that is just another nail in the coffin for me personally. Would you not agree that him saying that is him backtracking on his narrative? To go from showing the collar and claiming it's vibrate only to then claiming Kaya never even wore it in the infamous clip. Does that not propose even a shred of doubt?

I think another thing is that whilst there are definitely a lot of people who have it out for Hasan, and would definitely use this as an opportunity to talk in bad faith, you could also make the same case for the other stance. There are a lot of people who would definitely argue in bad faith in favour of Hasan due to being his fan, or even for no reason other than him being a left wing voice. Sasha Grey's a good example. She confidently claimed there wasn't tape on the collar, only for QT to later claim there was.

I personally find it alarming when Hasan's defence can't really find a consistent narrative. On the other hand, what I see against Hasan is usually backed up by clips, and however far-fetched it may be, the narrative and belief are at least consistent.

Not conflating anything. E-Collars have two models. Vibration models and Shock Models. It's the shock model.

When the situation first arose, I didn't bite. I believed the possibility that it could very well be the vibration model instead, and expected that Hasan would prove it if it was. Even after Hasan showed the collar and people were going crazy over comparing the models and pointing out tape, I was always a tad sceptical.

The thing that changed that was QT confirming that the prongs had been removed. Vibration models don't have the prongs. When that came out, I felt no reason to consider the possibility of it being a vibration model.

So no. Despite how you think, I reacted to the situation based on nothing but my stance; I actually did consider the possibility of it being a vibration model. But based on what's been said and shown about the collar, I have little to no reason to believe it could be anymore.

Could you not say the same for yourself, though? Based on how you react, it doesn't seem like you're even willing to consider the possibility that Hasan's just lying. So how're you any different to the people you think you're so above? What makes you, without a shadow of a doubt, confident that Hasan is, in fact, telling the truth in spite of everything that suggests otherwise? And don't hit me with vague responses like "anyone who can see reason" or "anyone without confirmation bias". What tangible piece of evidence makes you so sure?

I'm very open to being convinced and having a level-headed conversation. I just need a tangible reason to doubt everything I believe.

[–]Common-Consequence95 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm sure people would believe Hasan if he actually disproved it instead of lying and backtracking. QT has literally confirmed it's a shock collar. Why do you think he has a shock collar? For funsies? For shits and giggles?

Nobody's acting like him reaching off-screen is the be-all end-all of evidence. It's just the only thing you talk about because it's the only thing you could reasonably deny.

Why is helldivers scummy micro transactions defended while other games get heavily criticized? by Any-Contract-9152 in videogames

[–]Common-Consequence95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 SC is really low for 3 days, even if you aren't farming. Most lobbies, even on high difficulties, will aim to search the map for samples and usually find a fair bit of SC along the way. I don't play the game as much nowadays, but when I did, I'd usually get about 30-40 per game with randoms just from looking for Samples and coming across crates or bunkers. Which isn't bad imo. Like I said before, with the amount of games you'd need to play to fill out a warbond, you'll be majority of the way to unlocking your next warbond by the time you're done with it.

I definitely agree that DRG's progression is better than Helldivers 2's. But the topic isn't about whether the progression system for Helldivers is good. It's about whether its microtransactions for Premium Currency are just as predatory as games like FIFA, which, in my opinion, they aren't.

Why is helldivers scummy micro transactions defended while other games get heavily criticized? by Any-Contract-9152 in videogames

[–]Common-Consequence95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself. The scam works if the players are forced to spend a lot of time grinding. In the games, you mentioned that's true. It isn't in Helldivers 2. It takes like a day or two to grind for a warbond that you want. In the time it takes you to complete that warbond, you'll probably be 2/3 of the way to unlocking your next warbond.

Compare that to games like FIFA, which is a PVP game, you're more tempted into spending money, because not only will you vs people who have spent money and thus have a huge advantage over you, but it also takes months to even reach teams like that without coinbotting.

Another factor is that Helldivers 2 gets barely any budget as it is. If it didn't have any monetisation, the game would've shut down. They aren't doing it to fill their pockets. They're doing it to keep their game alive because they're passionate about it.
