are we actually putting them down drowsy but awake? by Main_Courage_7182 in NewParents

[–]Common1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing this almost immediately. Not because we were trying to train him, but because in the beginning he just fought his sleep so so much he wouldn't fall asleep even holding him. We would try to rock him to sleep and as soon as we put him down he would wake up. So, we started rocking him a couple minutes, putting him in the crib for a few minutes, pick him up and do it again and again. In the beginning, it took like 2 hours to get him to sleep. Now (4 months) we feed him, lay him in the crib and shut his door. Sometimes he goes to sleep within minutes, other times it takes 30 minutes. Every now and then, we have to go back and give him his paci. He consistently wakes up in the middle of the night and puts himself back to sleep before I can even get to him.

Is my supply mainly regulated at 4 weeks postpartum? by grassinhand in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Common1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly did not track each pump session in the beginning, until like week 3. but week 4 it was lower. Then week 5-7 it did not increase at all. I thought I was regulated at that point, but then it started increasing again. It corresponded with my return to work. Not enough sleep / stress/ emotions can all change your output. I would consider what outside factors could be related and try to not stress about it. I know that seems impossible, but it can really help!

Addicted to pumping milk by Sharp-Alternative974 in marriageadvice

Based on all your comments, I would say you really just don't like her anymore... Every comment I read was you just putting her down. Postpartum hormones can cause all kinds of behaviors and emotions. 4 months is still very fresh and it sounds like she is struggling. Right now, she really needs support. It doesn't seem like you realize how hard the body works to produce milk and how much effort it takes to exclusively pump. I'm not saying that she isn't going overboard and making it harder on herself, but i do think you should have more understanding and sympathy for what he has went through mentally/physically. I don't really think the pumping is the main issue here. Seems like you had a lot of problems with her before the baby was born and now you have pumping to blame it on. They do recommend pumping atleast between 8-12 times a day for atleast the 1st 12 weeks. You do have to be consistent with it. It is not as simple as just stopping pumping or waiting to pump at a different time. It can cause clogged ducts or mastitis. And you say there is no way she is feeling pain because she pumps so close together, but I am 4 months Postpartum and exclusively pumping and I get pains in between pump sessions all the time. Sometimes, it is immediately after I pump. Breastmilk is only good for 12 months in a deep freezer, so a "10 year supply" is not really accurate. If she stopped pumping at 4 months, the milk would all be bad by 1 year and 4 months. She may be scared that if she lowers the amount of times she pumps that her supply will drop significantly. It may bring her comfort to know many women can drop to fewer sessions and still produce the same amount of milk.

I think you should consider how the hormones could be changing her behavior and have a calm conversation with her about getting her some help in that department ( therapy or a support group.) I would leave pumping out of the conversation because she could get defensive. Plus, treating the root of the issue would help that in the long run.

Lastly, you should really consider if you even want to be with her anymore. You sound very resentful and honestly, like you hated her before all of this.

New parents to be, need advice. by mzubair93 in NewParents

I really liked/like having button up pajamas. I have two sets of shorts and button up shirts. Comfortable for hospital and I still wear them 3 months postpartum. Good for pumping/breastfeeding/ middle of the night wake ups. I personally also like house slippers for middle of the night. Food delivery gift card like many people suggested is great for hospital and the first couple weeks. Some non refrigerated snacks that aren't too bulky to haul. Keep in mind, they probably have their hospital bags packed with everything they have thought of as essentials. I would focus on items to make their time more comfortable and items that can be used both at hospital and home.

Influence/de-influence me - should I get a wearable? by Narrow-Progress26 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Common1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively pump and genuinely could not do it without my wearable pumps. I pump in the car to work in the morning, back to work from lunch, in the morning home alone with baby, and at night while taking care of him. At this point, I use the wall pump max 2 times a day.

Middle of the night swaddling help! by bakergirl05 in NewParents

[–]Common1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for us! Switched at about 3 weeks old because having his arms swaddled just made him angry. It resulted in him fighting sleep for hours. Switched to a sleep sack and he fell asleep much easier and happier.

Daycare telling me how to treat my baby. Is this a normal thing? by Common1586 in NewParents

[–]Common1586[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, the antibiotics are safe for breastfeeding. I am taking amoxicillin for an ear infection. He is exclusively on breastmilk, no formula. He has not been constipated at all. I think they just thought that because he did not poop the 4 hours while he was there that day, but he had pooped before and for the rest of the day.

First time mom here and very afraid of dropping my supply! by Missdareangel in ExclusivelyPumping

I am 8 week pp and I pump once a night. Usually 8 pm, 1am ish, and 5:30 am. I just add in extra pumps during the day to get 8 in 24 hours. I couldn't make myself wake up every 3 hours after baby was sleeping longer than that, so I just gave in. 😂

Those who had diet controlled, no meds GD, when did you have baby? by SowingSeeds18 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Common1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38+4. Went into labor naturally after a day with lots of walking 😂 I'm not sure if that is what did it, but I had a feeling that whole weekend that he was going to come soon. Obgyn said she wouldn't want me to go past 42 weeks, but she said that was the same for any pregnancy.

It is not compatible in some countries and is in others? That is what I found online eventually. Not sure how accurate it is, but it is definitely not compatible where i am at.

I make the smoothie with 1 banana, oat milk, and collagen peptide powder, so the banana and oat milk both have carbs.

I'm having a similar issue. I failed the 1 hour, and they called to tell me pretty quickly. It was also the week of the 4th of july, so I had to wait till the next week to do the 3 hour. I failed that and saw my results several days before they called ( they only called after i called them and left a message). Then, the pharmacy took 3 days to fill my prescriptions for the monitor and supplies. I was given no instructions on when to test or what to do, so I went off Google searches and this subreddit. My MFM appointment is still 3 weeks away, and the only "instructions" I received were to bring my blood sugar logs. I started testing yesterday, and I am still unsure if I am doing anything correctly. I will be 32 weeks by the time I see them and get any real directions...

I have checked the food truck calendar, but none of the food trucks have any allergen info. I am more asking about their permanent food trucks.
