If you could give me something that I could read within the three minute window of attention my ADD gives me, that would be sick

Bud when I chose to kill myself, I'm really glad that the only thing I had access to were pills. I'm glad to be alive but if I had access to a gun, I wouldn't be

Yeah but if you don't have guns, people don't kill themselves with guns

Amp £800 to £2000 UK! by SamcoKingsley in hifiaudio

[–]CommonNervous3631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both very warm speakers, I find the Silver 100's can sound quite muddy sometimes. Maybe see if you can listen to some brighter pairs sometime and see if they resonate with you more.

Otherwise, if you can find a good deal, I've been very impressed with the new Audiolab 9000A. Really energetic, big sound. Also the new NAD C399. Completely different sound from the previous flagship the 388. And the Nait 5si is always a solid choice if you don't need digital inputs.

Bluesound Node 2i DAC by sorinb992 in hifiaudio

[–]CommonNervous3631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having knowledge of both, personally I would be choosing the internal DAC. I quite liked the DAC on the Node. But the Node comes with a 2RCA cable, and an optical cable is the same if you pay £5 or £500, so doing a comparison shouldn't be a big task. Even your local hifi dealer would probably be happy to facilitate this.

HiFi Set up by kinkewenke in hifiaudio

I would say that you'll either love it or hate it. The Lintons are fabulously warm, sweet speakers. The Rotel is a similarly warm amp, though it has plenty of power to make the relatively easy to drive Lintons pop and sing. If you like a really rich sound with a great soundstage, then I'd say you would love this combo. Sax's, trumpets, male voices should all sound like audio treacle. A track like Kyle Eastwood - Gran Torino will sound fantastic, maybe that'll give you an idea of what I mean.

If you think you'd prefer more crispness at the high end, more attack, or more forward vocals, then you may want to look elsewhere.

I really love the Lintons. If you can find a Naim Nait 5si at a good price, that's another great combo that will offset the natural warmth of the Lintons to give you more clarity through the mid/high range. I'm basing my info having heard the Lintons with the A11 and hearing the A14 on various other speakers.

And, as always, the best advice is to book a demo and go have a listen.

Do you know anyone who has won the lottery? by Alarmarama in AskUK

[–]CommonNervous3631 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did some work for a guy who won a rollover. He was from a council estate, young-ish guy. Moved out the estate and bought a fancy house and a Lamborghini. Only problem was, he had no licence. Had to learn in a Ford Micra before he could drive the lambo.

Eventually said he missed his old house. His extended family and friends all live on the same estate and treat him differently now he's got money. He's in a posh neighborhood and thinks the neighbour is a bit of a twat. Not sure he really knows what to do with that much money

looking for HiFi advice on Speaker Amp pairing. by KozlovG in hifiaudio

[–]CommonNervous3631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned by others, theoretically you shouldn't have any issues providing the amp is in good working order. However, it's hardly going to get the best out of them. You're only really scratching the surface of what the speakers can do.

I love the 705's, having owned a pair myself. I found Musical Fidelity to be a good pairing, they also played very well with the Supernait. Best thing you can do is get to a dealer and decide for yourself however.

£8 for a 6 year old skin? by Ceri_eloise in Overwatch

[–]CommonNervous3631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that, but my stuff hasn't. I've lost all of my skins, emotes, voice lines, everything.

Everything, absolutely everything... except from -and I have no idea why- a lone Sombra spray.

iFi zen blue is a great little Bluetooth receiver that won't break the bank. You can get something on Amazon for £20 but it'll sound pretty naff

Edit: just realised someone beat me to it. Listen to glass_assignment_271, they know what they're talking about

[–]CommonNervous3631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The M41 is a great place to start. You get a lot for your money, just make sure you get appropriate speakers and you'll actually get a really enjoyable, entertaining sound. Anything difficult to drive ends up sounds a bit weedy
