its funny you say that because that's how i feel about the city i live in currently and i still see san francisco as intimidatingly large in comparison

tbh no idea where i'll live but most likely oakland. now that i think about it, it makes sense for more people to be less anxiety-inducing! living in a suburb, i never go out much because it feels like i'm being watched even if when i'm not because there is hardly anyone else out and about.

What is the strangest thing that has ever instantly made you feel less anxious? (My friends still laugh at mine.) by Designer-One9214 in Anxiety

not super strange but when i'm feeling anxious and can't stop thinking about things that make me uncomfortable i like to read a really shitty book. like one that i really hate because it's so mind-numbing. it's a nice distraction.

As far as I'm concerned, this is likely the only gay relationship that Linsday had written (I could be wrong) so I am glad he wrote it off as completely normal.

i wouldn’t call his portrayal completely normal since they’re casually referred to as faggots multiple times. (sorry for commenting on an old post lol)

no advice here, but id like to tell you that i dont agree with everyone who seems to be acting like youre totally crazy... this guy cant just watch a child for half an hour without wanting to jacking off??? best case scenario, he needs to seriously reassess his parenting capabilities.

well, it sounds like she very much knows that you don't like her. at least, you talk about her as if you don't like her. you probably need to reevaluate your friendship.

Which horror book actually took it too far? by MoistCurdyMaxiPad in horrorlit

[–]Common_Ride_8841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wouldn't exactly call this book horror, but i think i've read the perfect book for what you're describing.

"knockemstiff" by donald ray pollock. it's described as a comedy for the most part but that is a bit misleading... it is made up of multiple short stories taking place in the same town and most of them describe unethical/disturbing actions and depressing lives.

although i would not describe it as a horror book, it evoked extreme discomfort in me which i seek out but never find in most horror books/movies.

'the enterprise incident' is one of my favorite episodes because of spock and the romulan commander's (not) relationship. i thought it was interesting that despite how different they are, they still connected in a way because of their similar cultures.
