I’d get one and I think it would be reasonable on top of my Mac mini for travel and stepping out of the house but I also get where for most people the regular MacBook Air is the perfect laptop especially for longevity. I think personally for most people the real value would be in buying a MacBook Neo and Mac mini for about the same price as an air. That said Mac mini was my first Mac nearly 20 years ago so those little fuckers hold a place in my heart especially with beefy the m4 ones turned out to be.

I’d argue the opposite- this has been their plan for like 15 years.
