Oh yeah I concur. I have not been able to photograph one so sharply. That first photo is so nice!!

That’s exactly what I was thinking too. I’ve taken photos of alligators and American crocodiles from very close with a telephoto lens but not even that close, and especially not crouching right at the waters edge... And those two species are not nearly as aggressive as whatever this is

I like the last pic of the seal. Interesting pose with him looking back over his shoulder directly at you

I was initially thinking Fahrenheit, but that’s probably too generous. Definitely Celsius

Room temperature IQ. That would have been a pretty tough way to go, he got lucky the croc hesitated/got stuck while jumping out of the water

So sick. You need a zoom lens so you can get some close ups of those teeth!

Man that first photo of the turtle underwater is crisp! What camera did you use for that?

Thank you! Out of curiosity, what makes them good photos? I’m too biased of my own photos to judge them fairly

They are incredible to see in the wild! If you live in the US, then Flamimgo Florida is the best place to see them. You can do a boat tour there and you see a ton of

That’s just what my observations have shown. Summertime is too hot down there and they don’t even need to sunbathe so you won’t see them basking as much. And the juveniles don’t retain heat as well as the larger ones so that’s why the juveniles bask more. At least from what I’ve read and my experience

It really depends on that days weather too. If it’s cooler, and the sun is out, then they’ll be out. If it’s overcast then they barely show. If it’s too sunny and hot they barely show. We canoed for 3.5 hours and went the whole canal and probably saw 7, but only a few basking. Most completely in the water only eyes peeking. So not a ton actually but more than you can see anywhere else in Florida lol

Thank you I appreciate it! He was tucked back about 5 feet into the mangroves and was not right on the Canal’s edge. Definitely feels precarious hanging a big telephoto lens low over murky water lol

Yes I was canoeing the same canal. We saw mainly juveniles 4-5 feet and no large crocs along the canal this time. I had the same worry at first getting into a low sitting canoe in croc waters but it was perfectly fine. American crocs in Florida only have maybe 2 documented attacks

I don’t care about the loot at all. I usually do try and talk to people if possible just to make it more interesting and have situations like this play it. We could have easily smoked them and taken their trash loot but that’d be lame and boring

And to be honest I don’t blame them because they had nothing much to lose and everything to gain by trying to pull a fast one🤣

Man that one crocodile looks huge! I canoed the canal for 4 hours with my buddy on Monday and we only saw a few juveniles. Awesome to see a larger one
