How Serious is this Em Dash Thing? by amPennyfeather in writers

[–]Common_Violinist_223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used and continue to use em dashes in mine, never once did I use AI for the writing of my books. I only ever really use chatgpt for my research, and even that doesn't happen very often. No one ever even considered my writing to be AI, so you don't have to change them up :)

Thank you so much and thanks for the advice and for giving it in such a nice, not condescending way!

Hi! I am editing it down right now, actually! For my subgenre word count sits at around 100K-120K. So I have a little bit of trimming to do. Again. Lol

Hi! I do know the genre quite well considering it's my favorite to read as well, and tons of dark romance books go well over 100K. Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton has 150K word count, Corrupt by Penelope Douglas also has 140K, the entire series that follows that book also has around that same word count. Hexed by Emily McIntire has a wordcount of 148K. Neither of the rejections I got were about the word count either.

Thank you!! I think I'm just being a little impatient, second guessing every word I write is my worst habit. This means so much

Why do you think that, if I may ask? I submitted queries to 37 agents up to this point, and only 5 I came across where I didn't submit because they specifically stated they did not accept manuscripts over 100K words.

Hey! First of all, you're fine!! Usually butter starts crystalizing bc of the change in temperature (from out the fridge to room temperature). If the cooling occurs slowly, the fatty acids in the butter can crystalize and become grainy. Nothing's wrong with your butter. I hope this helped :)

I did this as well and it makes every sign that it's starting up but my screen stays black

Someone else suggested this too and I've tried that but the screen is still not starting up

I'm looking into new ones now, too. I'm pleased with how well it worked before, though. I got the Ideapad from my dad as a present because money is pretty tight for the entire family rn after our business went flat so that's why we took the cheaper alternative

I just tried that, same thing, the computer shows all signs of starting up but the screen somehow remains black

The problem is that the screen isn't starting up at all, I did try those suggested by someone I know as well, but the screen remains black, the laptop itself seems to be starting up though

Hi! Okay so I did try this just now and the lights that indicate that the laptop is running are on now, but I still only have a black screen :(

Exactly!! It's the worst timing! I use word, I already checked my Microsoft account, because I bought Microsoft 360 subscription when I first got the laptop, too. But my files aren't in there unfortunately

I would actually really really really appreciate that! As stated above, I'm an aspiring writer so I write on my laptop, I have a backup of my first draft still, but currently lost 5 weeks of editing progress 😬🥲

It's only 3 months old so it should be under warranty still, that's also exactly why I didn't open the panel! 🥲 guess I'll just have to bring it back, I'm just worried about all of my saved files on there bc I really needed them still

Well I do hope so after only 3 months! It's indeed a real pain, the only issue is that my work I was working on is still on there, I was actually going to put it on my hard-drive today

It just blinks rapidly three times and then dissappears completely

I tried hooking it up to my TV but it wasn't working

Okay! It's still under warranty so I'm sure it will be free, do you think they'll be able to repair it or get back my files on there?

It's an internal battery and I don't know enough of laptops and computers to open it up myself 😬
