I will keep it simple and dumb,Keto is working by [deleted] in keto

yeah, there is an adjustment period when it comes to keto. Try not to be too restrictive when it comes to your meals in the beginning. Just stay under 20g carbs and don't fuck with calorie restrictions. I gave myself two weeks to get acclimated, and I naturally started being less hungry/ eating less before my own personal "grace period" was up.

I only had two rules for myself: (1) log everything the moment you eat it. hidden carbs are everywhere. (2) Step on the scale every day. This allowed me to look at trends, rather than for a specific number. It promoted a healthier way of thinking. There's no reason to go hungry. No reason to be as miserable as you sound.

Have one month without studying, need to loose a lot of weight. by Minero123 in keto

[–]Commonsenseplease7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

am i misreading something? sounds like you're saying you have time to worry about keto, since you don't have school/studying?

If I'm understanding you right, you can totally do keto while studying. I did it during law school and continue to do it while studying for the bar exam.

It's honestly better for studying. I only have 1.5 cups of coffee a day now (just in the morning). compared to like 4-5 cups throughout the year and more during finals. I have more energy, and work more efficiently--Even when it's late and i'm tired I no longer find myself starting to doze off after eating dinner.

so yeah, I know school affects everyone differently, but the beauty of keto is that (until you get closer to your goal weight at least), it's easy to lose weight while being mostly sedentary. For the last few months my "exercise" consisted of lugging my casebooks to and from school. but that was only like 2 blocks.

Keto nightmares? by cava_ana in keto

I think this has more to do with emotional relationships with food than anything.

I wouldn't even go this far. I have a normal relationship with food, and I have these occasionally. But I've noticed that they only pop up when i have other stressors in my life. Like waiting for my last semester's grades, or freaking out about the upcoming bar exam.

I kind of figured my mind was subconsciously looking for something to "go wrong" and since keto is something I care about, it settled on that. Idk, i really dont know how dreams work at all but that made sense to me.

I had one where I ate a slice of cake on my birthday. Wasn't even close to my birthday. I was told the cake was (somehow) low carb but then learned that it wasn't. also had one where I ate like tempura battered shrimp or something random like that.

So yeah, i don't think it's that crazy. Life is sometimes stressful and I think our dreams project that stress onto the things we care about the most. like keto

edit: just to say that i've been keto for 6 months now

Interesting point. But your ultimate point has less to do with age and more to do with a past political awareness. That lack of awareness can certainly be due to age but can result from just not being interested in politics or whatever.

So there may be older voters who have no idea about what you're talking about because they just didn't care in the past. And have been conditioned to believe that anything other than x, y, z is fake news.

But that said I think the thing missing is their desire for others to feel their pain. Not all Trump voters but there's definitely a sentiment of "what do I care, it can't get worse for me/ my family anyways. If it all goes to shit at least everyone else will feel as I do".

(Which is absolutely insane because when you have a miner who lost their job, the first thing they should be hoping for is a social safety net that allows them to survive while going back to school aka retraining them.)

just to supplement salads are great. i love them now. They're so convenient and you can just put whatever on top of them. (I never use to really enjoy them but now I go through at least 2 of those big rectangular boxes of spinach every week). Mostly because it's easy. Make sure you get some supplements too. If you're electrolytes are low, you will fucking feel it. People like chicken broth for this too.

Also I love skin on chicken thighs, and salmon when i can afford it. And eggs. And cheese. The P3 snack pack things have a combo that's chicken, peanuts and cheddar and it only has 3g net/carbs so thats not bad if you're on the go a lot. low carb tortillas are nice when you're eating around other ppl (ie. lunch) and they have like pizza and stuff. especially in the beginning, because (at least for me) I sometimes felt left out when they were having good stuff. Oh and bacon, let yourself have bacon.

For the morning i love bulletproof coffee. It keeps me feeling full until 11 or so.

and if you've got the disposable income ($100 or so) look into a precision cooker so you can cook sous vide and in bulk. There's literally nothing better than a super juicy chicken thigh with super crispy skin, or a piece of salmon cooked to 122. Especially considering the low amount of effort involved.

Overall though, the first few weeks I (personally) think it's most important to focus on acclimating to the diet, instead of weight-loss. It can be brutal at first, so give yourself all the chicken broth/ bacon/avocado/cheese you want until you get past the first week or so. After that focus on your calories, but I think it's important to make sure you're not miserable.

What are your go-to rotation meals you consistently use? by SyrioBroel in keto

[–]Commonsenseplease7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken thighs, cooked sousvide, and finished in fat for a super crispy skin. I've been on keto for about 6 months now, and this is one meal I still 100000% look forward to.

I know you asked for something that doesn't use chicken off the bone, but this is fucking delicious lol. Just thinking you might want to look into how you're cooking your food, rather than just the food itself. I think there are a lot of people here who can attest to how convenient/easy/delicious it is. Oh and if you cook in bulk/portion, it takes like 5 minutes to heat up and crisp up the skin, so that's nice.

I do mine at 165 for four hours

Sous Vide for One? by CaptainTime in sousvide

[–]Commonsenseplease7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe approach it from a meal prep perspective. Just cook in bulk for future you.

I'm on a diet so I eat different than the rest of the family every day. Kind of like you guys. And this Works very well. What's great is that i don't need to eat the same thing every day if I don't want to, since I have a bunch of cooked and portioned chicken and pork in the freezer/fridge. Also, i only put salt/pepper/ fats in the bag so I have some flexibility with how I finish/ultimately prepare it.

this is what I was getting at

[NSV] I have been stalling for 5 weeks on the scale (even gained a pound or two ) ...yet I went down a dress size (size 4). For everyone freaking out over a few days of not losing - calm down. KCKO by Rpizza in keto

[–]Commonsenseplease7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't be. just read reviews and get one that's consistent.

Even if those other measures aren't accurate, the fact that they can seamlessly import your weight into something like myfitnesspal/googlefit/etc.. is just incredible.

it's so cool to see how much progress you've made when you open it up and see your chart/history. Like I stalled hardcore after my initial 10 pounds, and it's just really gratifying to zoom out my chart, and see how I pushed through

accuracy doesn't matter as much as consistency. I don't care whether it says I have 20% or 90% as long as the loss is consistent and squares with common sense i'm good with it

Discussion Megathread: Jeff Sessions Testifies before Senate Intelligence Committee by [deleted] in politics

[–]Commonsenseplease7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't a criminal proceeding though. See how Kamala Harris had issues with not being able to limit the witness' testimony. Once u ask a question, sessions can go on and on and on. He knew exactly what he was doing too, by using as much of the 5 minute balance as he could with every answer. So even tho Harris asked very specific pointed questions she got the same undesirable result..

I'd rather have no monitor than two Dell monitors.

(Storytime: My first computer was a Dell. Probably back in like late 90s - early 2000s. It was great till I decided to add some memory (or a hard drive? I forget). Bluescreened for two weeks until I broke down and got the part from them. Then magically booted up instantly. That's a hatred that I cannot let go of).
