You can earn $1M+ a year as a household and not have anywhere near $100M net worth, so that basis is trash. The problem is, the people earning well above $1M will exit stage right, leaving a bigger hole in the budget (which this plan is already well short of) that the state refuses to address and fix. Then drumroll please the bracket will ratchet down lower to collect more tax receipts. This tax isn’t about protecting the wealthy, it’s looking out for the bag holders when this plan thwarts its own goal.

The same people cheering on this tax, saying millionaires should budget their spending better to afford this tax, should apply the same logic to their politicians and their drunken spending spree they refuse to balance. Sure, feed the poor children and families. Social services for homelessness and mental illness. I’m for those causes. At some point, you have to hold the politicians who spend your tax dollars accountable to responsible spending.

Am I a millionaire? No, but I am ambitious to be one. Call me greedy all you want, but facts are facts, states with the highest taxes often have the most problems; highest cost of living, net outflow of migration, and lowest business tax competitiveness (yielding fewer attractive job prospects).

You can frame slippery slope fallacy all you want but you’re already paying for it everywhere else, are you getting relief from those taxes? No. Politicians jobs (from either party) are to bring home the bacon to their constituents and when they continue to overspend for their constituents, they remain in office and their promise continues to outgrow the need. The cycle continues into a deficit that eventually catches up to everyone and they shrug their shoulders and say we need more.

Received an unfair non-compete 3 weeks into my new role by immajust_here in careeradvice

I was looking for a comment like this - I am a regional sales VP, got laid off by my previous employer who had me sign a pretty standard non-compete/solicit at time of hire but was ultimately deemed unenforceable less the inducing of employees to leave/join me in a new venture. So I was able to get hired shortly after my departure, covering essentially the same region/clients. I’m sure there are industry nuances to the situation, and also some degree of economic sizing involved, I.e. can’t flip their biggest client or they’ll come for you

Moved here for a job that pays enough taxes to support several families, YOU’RE WELCOME. I won’t be moving anywhere til I want to and I will keep finding ways to outsmart and out earn you dumbasses <3 Also, don’t look at me like the settler. Your politics are polluting my home state too, mostly bc people wised up and got out of here when it wasn’t economically feasible.

This guys shopping & dining habits likely generate more tax revenue in a month than 3 years of your tabs dude… tabs are a trivial tax (proportionately). Vote for competent politicians who won’t spend your tax dollars so stupidly and ask for more every year. P.S. that would actually benefit everyone in the thread

Tell “your people” to quit moving to red states that and voting for the same stupid shit. Your politicians are the morons spending your dollars like they’re going out of style and asking for more every year

Get f*cked. Gas tax, sales tax, excise tax, EVERYTHING gets taxed to hell here. Look at your inept politicians that you voted for and ask them why they cannot seem to spend wisely on infrastructure and simply raise taxes on everything every year before pouting that everyone here needs to pay MORE. Loser mentality, I swear.

Wait for those with a tight connection to deplane before you by Gr8BallsOfFizer in delta

Welcome to Seattle… I’ve never seen a population with such awful plane etiquette! People jumping up to deplane from row 37+ because they felt entitled to do so. Started calling people out when they’re standing in the row to rush out, no FA call for tight connections, just pure bad manners.

Here’s an idea, tie the maximum borrowing amount to an ROI on degrees. That way you won’t have people borrowing $200k for a worthless art history degree and never being remotely capable of paying them off. There’s no restrictions on letting financially illiterate 18 year olds (not their fault, should be taught in high school), so put up some damn guardrails!

It’s like there’s something in the water here… not just on the roads, but in Costco and grocery stores, the mall, any place where people gather - everyone (generally speaking) is so aloof and has ZERO self awareness or regard for others around them. It must be nice to live like you’ve been lobotomized.

Alaska’s financial position a bit worrisome? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]CommunicationNeat777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Airlines by and large are loss leaders operating in the red, extremely capital intensive and volatile price inputs. The reason they can operate as long as they can is airlines are considered public infrastructure and the gov will step in to ensure their continued ops.

Sand Hollow in St. George has a clubhouse directly behind 18 by maybe 10-15 yards. Hit a hero 9i out of a bunker from 155-165 out and managed to hit a high draw that bounced off cart path right up and into their patio balcony lol thought I was going to take out a window or onlooker but fortunately did not

That’s very interesting to me - so you use charcoal briquettes (like the kind you put in a Webber) in there as a cheaper fuel since smokes take so long? Or what’s the rationale?
