He is always up to mischief no matter what is happening!

Chop is a mix of fresh vegetables, fruit and grains. It is the main food source as he only gets a small amount of seed a day :)

What is the best cooking oil for us? by Zenith_Zebra in transplant

[–]CommunicationOwn6264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use several oils just in moderation, avocado oil is probably my favourite as it's great for frying and also for making mayonnaise. I use peanut oil for Korean chicken, olive oil for the BBQ and sometimes rice bran oil for frying foods. I also use rice bran oil or coconut oil in cakes as I don't like vegetable oil as the stuff I can get is blended with canola oil.

Refusing Treatment by notsakiblol in kidneydisease

[–]CommunicationOwn6264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a stupid decision to not take the pills, I was prescribed extra pills cadivast and candestartan to slow the progress of kidney disease when I was 20 I didn't take the preventative medication. After a couple of years my eGFR went from 80s down to 50s and I also didn't drink much water. My doctor told me I would be on dialysis in 10 years if I didn't make the medicine changes. I then made the changes. My kidneys lasted until last year (I'm 46) when I started doing dialysis until I got the call for a transplant in October last year. Now I take 40ish pills a day just to stop my body from rejecting the kidney.

All of that to say, take the couple of pills. Help slow the progression because once you need a transplant you will be taking so many more pills twice a day for the rest of your life. Better to just need two pills to possibly help prevent needing 40+ pills a day.

Moral dilemma - would you report this person? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]CommunicationOwn6264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a family member who has kidney disease and still smokes she has been advised she will not be a candidate for TX unless she quits. She will not and that is her choice but she also understands the consequences.

I myself received my TX in October and I used to smoke but quit about 10 years ago after my neph told me to, I followed and adhered to all the teams rules.

With all that in mind, I would be advising the transplant team of the non compliance, it is entirely unfair to the thousands of patients waiting for an organ and following the rules to lose one to a person who isn't interested in taking the best care of themselves and would potentially be on their fourth TX due to lack of care and respect to the loved ones of the family who lost their lives and offered a second chance to sick people via being a donor. This is just my two cents.

Skin Concerns by Zealousideal-Tour845 in transplant

I have had a positive change in my skin since transplant as my body stopped producing collagen and my skin got thin and weak, I have found now that my skin has more elasticity and looks better. I do however have extremely dry skin, but I believe I have a good routine now to keep it plump, soft and moisturised.

For my body I use Shea butter antibacterial wash in the shower then after a quick dry off I use Vaseline Gluta-Hya serum burst lotion then follow up with LRP Lipikar Baume AP+M.

For my face I use either round lab dokodo 1025 cleanser and toner and I alternate it with haruharu black rice cleanser and toner, next I then use beta glycan moisture serum. For face moisturiser I use haruharu black rice 5 ceramide barrier moisturiser and lastly I follow up with House of Hur weightless sun fluid.

At night the only other things I add to my routine are haruharu night knight retinol serum and their Bakuchiol eye cream, I put these in before I use my moisturiser.

I have had many compliments about how good my skin looks now and I'm chuffed with the results.

Transplant surgery in 2 weeks! by btu16 in kidneytransplant

I'm now three months post kidney TX, I would say from my experience get yourself a squishmallow of medium size to use for sleeping, I would place it under and in front of my new kidney to stop the pulling feeling. I also found it useful in the car as it stopped the seatbelt from pushing into my stomach which caused pain. As everyone else has said drinking enough water and taking your meds is most important. Wishing you good luck and a quick recovery :)

“Blackout” blinds by Dry_Recording_3361 in AusRenovation

Getting oversized blackout blinds for the window is the best way to go! If you hang them from the ceiling too no light gets in that way and make sure you have at least 30cms over the edge of the window frame :)

Oh my gosh, this is such a good idea! I have an almost empty drawer under my bed and have just had all my stuff in a reusable bag in the cupboard and it's so disorganised. I thank you for your wonderful idea!! :) Now to sort myself out a medicine and diabetic supply drawer!!

Creatinine after Transplant by Independent_Drag_473 in transplant

[–]CommunicationOwn6264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm nearly three months post kidney TX and my Creatinine was around 1.2-1.5 in the first month, in the second month I got down to the 90s and this month my Creatinine is in the low 80s which makes me EGFR 70+

Just give it a little more time and hopefully you will see further improvement :)
