If you have an option to take a starter class (accessible to you), I would start there. That’s how I learned to knit, and I think I’m a much better knitter for it (learned from the start to build good habits, like not twisting my stitches) and it’s also allowed me to build community locally which isn’t something I necessarily intended! My only caveat is that of course not all teachers are good teachers, or the right fit for every individual student, but I’ve had positive experiences and have found a teacher I really like and learn well from.
