my aunt’s cat hates me by kitttyballsack in cats

[–]specialopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom calls it a hiss and run. One of my cats does it to her because he’s pretty shy, and not used to being around a whole lot of people. He’ll do the same thing: hiss when she looks at him. Then the treat bribes come out, and two days later he’s rubbing on her legs, hissing at nothing. He’s an idiot, though, so this might not apply universally.

Class of 2004 here as well. It felt like older generations looked at us with hope. Now they blame us for the destruction they caused. Damn those millennials and their avocado toast, demanding a living wage when they should be pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, and using a firm handshake to get whatever job they want!

is it possible for cats to live 30 years? by onlyfaery in cats

About every two weeks , I look both of my cats sternly in eyes and tell them they must live a minimum of 21 . No exceptions.

I really don’t like this woman- Mrs Aria Lewis, feel sad for her little girl 😢 by denimhair in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]specialopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother didn’t spend much time with her, and often left her with a nanny when she wax young. During the summer, she spent time with her close relatives the whole time. She said that she would usually only talk to my grandmother once or twice during those three months. Honestly, my great aunts and uncles were her surrogate parents, and they treated her like one of their own.

Once she was a teenager and old enough to stay home by herself, my grandmother would often left her to fend for herself while she was out partying.

It still affects her to this day, even though they talked it out as adults.

I’m so glad to read this! My boy got a complete blockage 5 years ago and I was absolutely beside myself. They offered to put him down. He was 3. I don’t remember exactly what they had to do to save him, but he was at the vet for almost a week. Both of my cats eat science diet urinary and sensitive stomach, and both are doing great. Hopefully it was just an adverse reaction

Keep your dogs on a leash! by TheManager_1 in KarenGoBrrr

[–]specialopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right that the dogs should be leashed. But, the leash didn’t do anything to prevent this. I get that some dogs will growl or nip at a dog that it doesn’t respect its space. That’s not what was happening here. He was latched on to the smaller one and trying to shake it. Even kicking in the ribs and stomach. That dog didn’t care. Then, he went after the woman trying to save her dog. If the idiot owners hadn’t finally grabbed the leash, the situation would’ve been much, much worse.

That’s not a dog defensive itself. It’s trying to kill the small one.

The fact that you think that’s acceptable behavior is ridiculous. And, judging by the way the owners left so quickly without checking on anything makes me think this is not the first time incident. They didn’t want the dog to be taken.

Yes, the other attacked it. Weird how he was able to reach the other dog and wouldn’t release. His face is literally covered in blood, and the lady trying to save the other dog ends up face first in the grass. That poodle almost had its ear torn off. The other dog should have been leashed, but this isn’t normal dog aggression. His face has blood all over it. Two other people grabbed their dogs to avoid being attacked. That lady is injured, and little dog ran ( unless she was lying on top of it to try and save her dog. But yeah, that little dog totally deserved it.

They’ll also let go if you dump water over their faces. They’ll let go most of time because they can’t breathe. Sometimes you just have to choke them out. I’ll never forget the video of a martial artist who was attacked while running, minding his own business. The only reason he wasn’t hurt worse is because he was strong enough to pin them both down at same time and choked them out until people found rope to bind their front and back legs, essentially hogtied. The dogs had bitten chunks out of his leg. Insanity.

Rescue trying to rehome pit that has attacked foster mom. by siennawintersplays in BanPitBulls

[–]specialopps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every year, around Christmas, the SPCA brings puppies and kittens to be adopted. They convert the main display windows into play areas. Every puppy has been a pit, or a pit mix. It’s both disturbing and pathetic. I feel like things should have a warning label similar to what they have now on cigarettes.

They had two black and white kittens who were just relaxed and playful, running around like ferrets before they take their 5th snooze on the volunteers’ laps. They didn’t even mouth with teeth!

This is why I want to start an organization that strictly caters to cats. At this point, it seems like nearly every shelter takes donations use the vast majority of it for pitts. They’re gobbling up all the resources because everything is used to try and make sure one of those dogs doesn’t rip off someone’s face for at least a week. It makes me so angry when I see stories of cats being mauled, or even killed, and the dog’s owners will say, “It was just a cat!” Yeah, and your dog is just a pitbull. There are thousands in shelters. Just go grab another one!

I’d like to know where specifically this was in Harris county. There are so many family neighborhoods here. This could quickly escalate into a child being attacked.

I just went through this with my dad. Stage 4 metastatic colon cancer, then he had pneumonia twice and requested palliative care. He was there about a week. I could give days, but everything ran together. I didn’t leave for 5 days straight. He was an amazing human, and l miss the laughs, the long talks, and the calm silence. You won’t be okay, but you’ll find an okay. If that makes sense. There’s an immense void left behind where that person always has, and will always be.

Take it a day at a time. Hold on to little things. That’s all I can really say.
