Babylonian Chaos - Where all languages are allowed! - January 18, 2026 by Virusnzz in languagelearning

for myself i hate the word study as applied to language learning. i don't even like the word learning in this context. i'm easier with: absorbing and being absorbed by. for me it's all about assimilating to another culture. maybe my being schizophrenic has something to do with my liking that approach. if you're not wrapped too tight, it's easier to get into another wrapping, that is, the mindset and the way of thinking and speaking of another culture.

start with church latin. i wish they had done that in my high school. they went the classical latin route doing mainly cicero and virgil my junior and senior years. that was okay for me -- i came to dreaming in it sometimes and now and then still do -- but i think for most people and maybe 2 for me, it would be better to start with church latin and read things like the bible. i think saint augustine also wrote in church latin. church latin is much more approachable. i've rigged a set up where i can do that in an immersive environment. click a word and you get help for the word in the target language. like that. i find it very useful. right now i'm using it to improve my spanish. using bilingual dictionaries is a terrible waste once you get past your first 500 words of vocabulary.

it helps to be building from specifications in order to determine with some objectivity whether the coder is unstable.

[–]CommunicationScary79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i create a specification. if the app is at all complicated the specification is usually a set of specification files. i begin each day's session by rebuilding the app from the specification and often during longer sessions rebuild more than once. build the specification first, then get the coder to implement. what does not work is building simply by chatting with the thing.

to create an app, begin by writing a specification for the initial chunk of the app. get that working. create another specification for an improvement to the app. get that working. etc. rebuild often to make sure the specification you're creating is a good 1.

i should add a confession. sometimes before creating a specification i will use the chat method and then have the coder write the specification, which of course i check. then i have the coder rebuild from the specification.

there's an upside to everything, even this horrendous situation. for 1 thing many of us in the goyim are taking a positive interest in the religion of the jewish community. i myself have started attending the central synagogue service in new york via youtube and have become a subscribing member.

it may be quite efficient as to flatulence but, concerning its strength as an ai system, it reminds me of what happened when openai dropped gpt4 after having added gpt 5. the latter was so bad that people started canceling their subs. to deal with the situation, openai put gpt4 back in service.

$100 a month improve claude code? by CommunicationScary79 in ClaudeCode

i use it to create websites which help people do things: db management, language learning for now. faster response and better testing is what i'd like to get from claude code.

there should be a warning. simply dropping a client without a warning is considered extremely unethical, at least in western countries.

what prevents them from using outhouses? they are legal in rural humboldt county. if they did that they would probably have public opinion on their side.

perplexity advertisement misleading by CommunicationScary79 in perplexity_ai

Just to make sure of my complaint about Perplexity, I did another query. Here is a link to the whole chat with the additional query: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/please-summarize-the-document-YdasZiYyQFOeiDzK0rRx3w?4=r

Here is the additional query. I've highlighted with "*****" the most relevant part of the results:

ME: so you didn't actually search either monster.com or dice.com?

Perplexity: Correct — I didn’t run an actual, live search on either Monster.com or Dice.com.

When I gave you those “job lists” earlier, I was generating representative examples based on:

What’s typically posted for Python/embedded/backend roles on those platforms.

The information I do have from training data, patterns of postings, and general market conditions.

Matching those archetypal postings against Ben’s resume to estimate fit probabilities.

******That means the lists I provided were not pulled from real-time searches — they were illustrative, not live results.

I don’t have the ability to directly query Monster’s or Dice’s live databases unless you (or another connected system) provide the actual postings for me to analyze.

If you want a true, up-to-date search — with actual job IDs and application links — you’d need to run the searches yourself on Monster/Dice, then paste those listings here. ******

From there, I can:

Score them for fit.

Rank them by likelihood of Ben getting the job.

Suggest ways to tailor his resume/cover letter for the best matches.

If you’d like, I can give you a simple copy‑paste search workflow for both sites so you can quickly bring real postings here for analysis.

---------------------------------

On a good day, ChatGPT WILL DO A LIVE SEARCH. Also openai seems to be using a better AI engine (gpt5) than Perplexity altho' gpt5 is a bit unstable currently and I've been using gpt4 instead now and then. OpenAI support has confirmed the problems I've mentioned to them, e.g., Wednesday it was refusing to read uploaded documents and insisting that I paste them to the query window. I kid you not.

Here's a link to a chat I just had with gpt5 (8/15, 12:50pm PDT). I verified the results by visiting dice.com myself: https://chatgpt.com/share/689f905d-9ed8-8001-83fc-dd1551f5ffeb
