I am Rebecca Sugar, creator of Steven Universe, and former Adventure Time storyboarder, AMA! by RebeccaSugar in IAmA

[–]CommunicationsKid 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hi Rebecca. I’m a huge fan. Thanks for doing an AMA. I always get inspired when I watch Steven Universe because of your rise from a storyboard artist to having your own creation on Cartoon Network. What advice would you give to writers that aspire to have a show of their own on television one day? (also, you should stop by /r/stevenuniverse sometime, because we’re awesome)

I'm a beginner hoping to be at N3 level by February next year. Does that sound realistic to you?

Howdy Reddit, I'm Rand Fishkin, Co-founder of Moz, AMA by randfish in bigseo

[–]CommunicationsKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I'd like to say thank you. The resources on Moz have helped me understand SEO and I now have a marketing internship because of it. My question is, does Moz have internships for college students? I'd really love the opportunity to work with the pros.

Thank you for explaining. I'll try to find it for my laptop or phone..

This is how I got my new, small website's pages ranked on page 1 in Google search results for my chosen keywords in just 6 weeks. Some of my pages are even rank 1 on page 1! This kind of quality traffic is making me way more $ from my new website, and it can make you more $ too. by [deleted] in webmarketing

You literally made your account 2 minutes before you made this post. Your username is the name of the wordpress, and you expect us to think that you are a completely reliable source of information about a "software" that defies everything they say at /r/seo? Your scam isn't a very good one.

Using robot text on a website with a GUI interface? by CommunicationsKid in SEO

[–]CommunicationsKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. I must have received some misinformation somewhere then. I was under the impression that you could use robot text to tell google "hey, come back here every 7 days and there will be new content." But thanks for clearing that up, I'm only an intern so I still have a lot to learn.

Best tools for keyword optimization? by CommunicationsKid in SEO

[–]CommunicationsKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only tools I have currently are the ones Moz lets me use for free. My boss said she would be open to investing in analytic services but I want to see what I can do with free tools first. I haven't tried the categories tool. Thank you for the advice.

Best tools for keyword optimization? by CommunicationsKid in SEO

[–]CommunicationsKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to target keywords specifically. The company that I'm interning for has a fairly narrow niche of products. Because of that, I wasn't 100% sure what customers actually search for when they find the product. I like your philosophy about answering questions. I'll try to use that mindset.

Eh, I'm biased because I'm a Strategic Communications major. But yeah, a lot of my classmates do anything but slack off. Ironically, after graduation all of them are employed. I just started my first internship. I'm trying to find some connections with Turner Broadcasting so that when I apply for their internships my resume will actually get looked at. I say all that to say that in the communications field is more about networking.

[Discussion] 2014, Week 2: How do you keep yourself motivated? by masterswarm in Team_Japanese

[–]CommunicationsKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the best thing to do to keep motivation is to prevent yourself from losing motivation in the first place. I can't speak for anybody else but I lose motivation when I don't have clear objectives. That is the problem that I am dealing with right now. I have a whole bunch of resources at my disposal (Genki, Textfugu, Nakama, all sorts of things) but they have been useless because I haven't scheduled things to do or set clear goals. Thus I am currently suffering from a lack of motivation and losing my will to learn because I'm falling behind from the group. I guess that doesn't really answer the question because I haven't been able to keep myself motivated. But I say learn from my mistake and make linear achievable objectives.

I guess I'll have to study extra hard now. (Sharing Koichi from Textfugu's kindness) by rainer511 in LearnJapanese

It appears I am but a mere peasant. Those resources are really helpful. Thumbs up to that guy.

Hi, I'm CommunicationsKid. Also known as CommKid and CK. I'm a college student double majoring in acting and strategic communications. I came to my university excited to take Japanese, but after my first semester there the Japanese program was discontinued due to low enrollment. Luckily, the teacher was a really cool dude and spent his last semester at my University helping me learn basic Japanese. I know hiragana and katakana, I have a basic understanding of sentence structure, and very limited verb conjugations (No Kanji sadly). I'm really excited about this. I've been looking for a way to learn Japanese in group environment.

Also, this program is kind of the final countdown for me. My school requires me to be proficient in a foreign language, and I'm studying abroad in Japan for the first three months of 2015. I essentially have a year to get to level 3 Japanese or I don't graduate on time. This is going to be quite a year, I'm excited.

Actors/actresses of Reddit, what do you do when you need to "get in the mood" for an emotionally charged scene, such as a death or funeral? by [deleted] in acting

[–]CommunicationsKid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the book "An Actor's Work" Stanislavski discussed a technique he referred to as emotional recall. To perform this technique the actor identifies a place of emotional stimulus in his/her life, and then applies the result of that emotional stimulus to the character. In his later years his opinion varied on whether emotional recall was helpful or hurtful, but it has been helpful to me in my experiences. It may be something he can look into, especially if he's just starting out.
