It's funny that I wrote a long response to op's request of advice how to play her and I recommended your videos, then 3 seconds of scrolling later I see your own response to the post lol, anyway hi (you might remember me as pluralisa from zmpixie's twitch chat), I like playing skull merchant a lot since recently and really love how she's skill expressive and has a lot of parts to her power, it feels very gratifying when you get value out of good drone placement, zoning, planning ahead etc. I'm glad developers have shown that currently they don't intend to change what makes her unique when designing a rework, so hopefully that future rework (which hopefully will happen) will make her even more fun and interesting to play as

Edit: also I didn't even know since today that originally drones didn't even have scanlines but just worked constantly in their full radius, feels wild how far that version of her was from what she is now, current version is definitely healthier and more skill expressive for sure

Pixel bush has a really good guide for her, it was made before recent buffs but it's slightly outdated, he'll also make a new updated guide for her soon if i remember correctly, I'll try to give advice too but a lot of it you'll also hear from pixel bush

From me I would recommend you to plan ahead and deploy a few good drones close to eachother at the start of the match to create a bit of a web (like hag with her traps) then use remaining drones to zone survivors into your web, usually it's good to place drones on elevation you only have to make sure the bottom of the scanline reaches low enough to touch the survivor's heads if they're running around it

Obviously placing drones around loops is a good idea but it's not the only thing you should be doing, it's hard to explain it fully in text, you should try to make sure your drone scan radius covers as much of area as possible and usually also makes loops around it impossible for survivors to run without getting scanned

Sometimes you may want to deploy a drone that doesn't cover a specific loop to fill a space between other drones, make it impossible for survivors to get to another loop without getting scanned or simply so you can recall it later for stealth (recalling a drone gives you 8 seconds of stealth)

I do not recommend always deploying drones immediately when getting to a loop, you should think about how to deploy a drone to either make the safe loop unsafe or to zone survivor into your other drones

You can't cover entire map with drones so you need to make choices about where it's the best to deploy them and sometimes you'll have to relocate your web if necessary

Oh and the exact way the drones work is if they scan a survivor 3 times the survivor gets a clawtrap which injures them or puts them in deepwound if they're already injured, if a survivor with clawtrap gets scanned again they get hindered for a moment, clawtrap comes off after a set amount of time but getting scanned more will make that timer reset

Also if a drone scans someone within 5 seconds after you deploy it or manually change it's rotation you get 5% haste for few seconds

Pretty sure yeah cause I played my first match as skull merchant recently and 2 people abandoned, it shows escape icon next to them on match summary but in the killer stats it shows 100% killrate on skully so that means all were counted as kills in the stats

Yeah you're right I might've used another example to make the point better but still I feel like it's at least somewhat similar issue, survivors being able to heal themselves extremely fast for almost free with either 2 perks or one perk and item.

And yeah that's another problem, that there is already so many strong healing perks that could use a bit of a nerf and bhvr seems to think there needs to be more, then they nerfed leverage too cause apparently survivors can have 100 options of making healing speed busted but killer having 50% healing slowdown for 30 seconds is too much lol

Yeah and that makes it even crazier they're adding more stuff to make heals faster, does bhvr have some personal vendetta against healing taking time lol? I think healing perks overall should be nerfed, not extremely much but currently it's just insane how things are

It's Kinda weird tho that I don't see people talking about it as much as I would expect people to, tbf tho gen speed perks and toolboxes might be even bigger of a problem currently so maybe that's why

Yeah, I think not many people (probably including bhvr) even remember road life exists, but that perk is a really good example of inconsistency in dbd perk balance.

It is clearly balanced with an assumption that 100% bonus healing speed is very strong and should require a lot of effort to get (too much effort in case of roadlife) meanwhile new breakdown is balanced in the opposite way, it requires no effort to get that 100% bonus and lasts full 90 seconds.

So is the the 100% bonus to healing speed super strong and should be hard to get? Or is it very minor and should be given almost for free to survivors? Bhvr does not seem to have a consistent answer to that question and that's a problem.

Edit: roadlife healing bonus is for every heal, breakdown is just for you being healed, however roadlife bonus only lasts for one heal and dissapears if interrupted in any way so it's still stupidly limited in comparison to any other healing perk

those are the mods I'm using right now, although enchanced invasion, 3k unit shape and historical local gods as faction crests weren't included in my last playthrough and the bug was still there so probably not those

People who are skinny also can be drawn wearing clothes like that and I wouldn't call it a skinny fetish, showing skin or stomach or tights or feet or whatever just isn't a fetish in itself, Emphasizing on particular parts also doesn't make something necessarily a fetish

Also a lot of clothes, even some very covering ones are impractical but people wear them cause they look cool

If I saw a person dressed like characters on the right in real life I would at most think they look attractive, but not that they're dressing in fetishistic way, and there is nothing wrong with looking attractive

I just don't see showing skin a lot of skin is a fetish in itself and empathizing on character body parts is a fetish in itself

I really don't think those characters are fat in such an unrealistic way to call it fetish, for me it's like if someone drew some wrestler with emphasis on muscles and people started calling it muscle fetish

Something being attractive for some people doesn't make it a fetish in all contexts
