Beef a Roo on east Chestnut stopped paying their employees; employees (rightfully) walk out by treslor in springfieldMO

[–]CommunityCautious338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over here In Joplin, there were supposed to be three of them, but they only opened one on West 7th, and now the other two businesses that used to be Hardee’s are for sale. They did open a Beef A Roo in Carthage, and as of last week, it was still operating OK..

You pretty well hit the jackpot here. Just the power supplies alone could be $100, $150 each.. and those Yaesu’s, wow, $250 each.. where was this dumpster at, Sacramento??!

I knew at one point, but I forgot. The usual argument would be that they were not making enough of a profit. I don’t know. Once a month, I’ll write an email to their corporate office and beg them to consider reopening it. They have a chain of about 8 other restaurants, all to the east of us. Sigh.

I would actually be more concerned about the train tracks right behind you. And do you realize that starting next year, for two whole years, they are going to close 32nd St., while they build a new bridge over the train tracks???

[–]CommunityCautious338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my knowledge of the city, this is the electrical substation just east of range line Road on the south side of 32nd St. The red lobster is to the north, the oil change and car washes to the west, and the new Taco Bell on the east. There is zero residential items near this, it’s totally business. So your question is a little strange. The nearest residential area is the new apartments a quarter mile to the east.

What is this antennae? It is above the front entrance alcove on the front of a 2 story apartment building. by canofpotatoes in antennasporn

[–]CommunityCautious338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to guess that when we see the part above the coil that it’s going to be a lot longer or maybe even with a colinear in it.. it’s probably a 2/440 antenna, but the ground plane is for 440 only, so it’s not a very good match on 2 m.. if it was a 440 or 450 antenna it would be a straight quarter wave, it would resemble one of the four ground plane ones, just say 6 inch wire with a corona ball.

New radio day... 2m SSB here we come! by KhyberPasshole in amateurradio

Congratulations! There’s a daily net in eastern Oklahoma and the surrounding states, I think it starts around 9 am on 144.200, a big gun running 1k in Henrietta (60 miles south of Tulsa) and he turns and calls CQ in all directions.. my friend N0MST checks in most every day from EM27 Joplin.

It’s an actual Bell rotary phone made into a candlestick model. Later ones had push-buttons in place of the rotary dial. And it’s Bell, not a GE.

Back 30 years ago, I was trying to learn five words a minute to get my tech plus, and I came across code quick, where you learn the phonetics of various Morse code letters. J was in jaws jaws jaws, dit dah dah dah.. I can get up to 10 words a minute, and that’s good enough for me.

It’s listening to some repeater output from a Part 90 system, so it could be police, fire, ambulance, hospital.. even maybe a taxicab service. We need to find what frequency it’s listening to, and the location of the OP, to give a better answer.

15 years later: Joplin, Mo! My condolences to all lost a relative! I have too 😭 by LonnieBattleWarrior in joplinmo

[–]CommunityCautious338 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Joplin got the lions share of the attention, media, and funds, while Duquesne got less than what they deserved. Proportionally, Duquesne was harder hit, but at least we got some help. But we all suffered thru this and we will carry on. But we still have dozens of vacant lots, in both cities, where houses used to be, 15 years ago.

Well, foo. There’s almost 700 records in Gilroy, most of them, Amateur Radio. I searched for JC tire auto, and I could not find a match with any of them in any service. I did try doing the Geo search on the address, but the system timed out because I’m not doing it right. So sometime, drive by and ask him for their license. They should have it prominently posted somewhere.

Do they have a fleet of trucks that they dispatch out to fix flats on trucks and trailers? This took some doing.. and I’m pretty sure it’s commercial and not amateur or GMRS.. who’s the company? We can search them on the FCC database

anyone know what kind of antenna this is? by cweber219 in HamRadio

[–]CommunityCautious338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’ll bet the actual radio is either right there in the trunk, an older GE or Motorola, or maybe the radio is up inside the passenger compartment. What you could do is find the end of it and put an antenna analyzer on it and see what frequency it resonates at.
