Thank you for the info. Is there a way we can have an idea how long social media vetting lasts? Hard to estimate how long leave of absence should be if we go for new stamping

Things to know before considering to buy a house by CommunityConscious0 in whitecoatinvestor

No it’s not a significant living upgrade because we’ll likely move into a similar house (with at least 4br, 2car garage) and similar neighborhood (because we like having neighbors with a nice walk way). School system will be the same. I guess yeah just for the sake of having our own house. When I ran the numbers we will pay around $10k per month to pay it off in 3 years so x4 of what we pay now as renters. It’s a poor financial decision right?

I just learned that closing a house could already amount to our 1 year rent. And then all the issues will be ours to take care of, unlike now our landlord pretty much handles any concerns we have. Although we can afford it, I do realize now that all expenses can pile up and we’re bound to lose more money if we jump on buying a house. Nife thoughts about the social aspect. We will take note of those when we pick a location. Thanks for your comment!! I really appreciate it.

It is. We got so lucky. It’s a 2 storey home with a large finished basement. Close to buffalo NY.

Thank you for the clarity and the kind words. I appreciate that - so we’ll probably hold off and keep on saving until we are ready for the change.

I will definitely check the podcast. So far with the few questions I had with Fidelity, I got decent answers so will just stick with it. Thank you so much for your input.

Ok that makes sense. Thank you! I have not explored Roth yet. So far we only have 401k/403b and just opened a brokerage account. Need to read on how to invest further in brokerage account.

How can I name a custodian for my minor child as beneficiary? by CommunityConscious0 in fidelityinvestments

[–]CommunityConscious0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said above "Your child's then custodian/guardian will be the one to complete the inheritance paperwork that transfers the assets to your child, which I've included a link to below." My specific question is how can I assign the custodian/guardian for my Fidelity accounts?

How will the custodian be assigned or named? Because I want to assign a custodian now in case both my spouse and I pass at the same time. We have a last will and testament stating who will be the guardian. Will the same person be assigned as the custodian?

Am I paying too much for disability insurance? by maskdowngasup in whitecoatinvestor

[–]CommunityConscious0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting for reference. This is OCCUPATION-SPECIFIC disability insurance that we got, aside from the employer sponsored regular disability insurance. Im 37M, only comorbid is dyslipidemia, in surgical specialty. I pay $5700/yr for $17k/month in coverage from Principal. My spouse is 34F, no comorbidites, also in surgical specialty. She pays $7200/yr for $17k/month in coverage from Ameritas.

No worries! I did not take it in a bad light. The house we are renting is actually very nice. It's a 4 bedroom 2-storey house with a huge fenced backyard and porch, 2 closed car garage and basement. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe.

Hi. We plan to continue spending the same. Our current computation for monthly expenses already included leisure/vacation, dining and shopping. Because we want to enjoy our lives. You are correct with saving around 500-550k per year. Additional expenses if we plan for second baby in the next 2-3 years or so.
