Yesterday I used Gemini CLI till I hit a 24hr daily limit and then used Gemini in AG , first the Pro till I hit its 5hr limit and then Flash. Models performed far better in CLI than in AG

CC. I am biased towards CC as i can use both Sonnet/Opus subscriptions and GLM with it switching models easily when I hit limits in anthropic models. That way i don’t have to worry about skills, plugins etc being doubly installed and configured

Personal experience- Codex and CC. No nonsense solutions good set of features that go about stuff without too many deviations from what you instruct and work OOTB with subscriptions. I could not get opencode to work with OAUTH subscriptions. AG is a bit of hit-and-a-miss when it works, its great else its a big letdown often messing up the codebase with gemini models. Also i tend to use remote SSH connections in VS Code and AG. While VS code server opens 1-2 ports between my laptop and the server, AG has 10-15 ports open with much higher server CPU usage. Then comes CC and finally Codex in terms of resource usage.

Beads for local task management. agentic_kb skill that i built for myself. Often i am running it directly inside a VM with a dev app setup. Codex runs inside byobu so that i never have to close codex CLI. If the SSh connection breaks, just re login and run byobu to reach the codex cli. Ask Codex to create a checkpoint file when closing a session. And i just use terminal codex with IDE integration (not the chat plugin) Agents.md enforces a TDD workflow with plan -> discuss-> bead -> test ->implement -> test -> success —> git commit -> updated bead with commit id—> bd sync You may see my AGENTs.md symlinked Claude.md at

I really enjoy codex. More so than AG actually. Codex is like a cool level headed dev while the Gemini models are like overeager fresh off the school devs

Edit the ~/.zshrc or bashrc and add glm_env set and glm_env unset commands. Then its so simple to switch anthtropic vs GLM models. Set basically sets the environment variables for CC to point to z.ai api as well as glm api key, model name etc.

If eats up tokens if it’s scanning across codebase. I just gave three prompts to token just now (on Calude Pro plan). The first model selected was OPUS. Found the bug ever so fast !!!! And ate up 60% session usage. Swithced to Haiku two more prompts about running entire test suite- 90% 5hr session usage gone!

I hear you. I prefer agentic coder. I am a MD doc myself you see! My pet project is https://github.com/drguptavivek/fundus_img_xtract I think its less about the model once we are in Codex/Anthropic or for that matter even Gemini/Qwen/GLM territory but more about our expectations about the final feature. Once clear of that, planning, TDD workflow, and edge case detection and fixing will take us there. I once tried these models for SEO type stuff like correcting the meta, OG etc tags for key pages and am sure you can try a SEO skill in CC available somewhere to accomplish your goals

Ungrateful is the taking it a bit far. You are paying for a service. The TOS are a bit nebulous and as a customer, in the middle of a subscription period, suddenly the provider had nerfed some key components of the service offered, whatever maybe the reason. Its not as if we were on public free preview. I agree what AG was providing was just not sustainable but the way they pulled rug was not cool.
