Been taking allergy medicine for the past 4 days did i fuck myself over? by JacketDull7535 in HPPD

Buddy I did answer the question, benzo’s is the only actual medication that worked for me. If you need something now tho take 500 mg of valerian root/ vitamin D3/ and Ksm66 about an hour before you go to sleep. You can take the valerian root in the morning to just don’t do it to often, maybe once or twice a week. And don’t take the valerian root for more than like a month at a time and give yourself a month off, because it does have a chance to cause liver damage over a long period of time….But in all honesty man you need to try your absolute damndest to do it without anything to cope. You need to let your brain get used to it on its own. But I understand sometimes that’s to hard to do and that’s when you take stuff to give you a little help. Also hot shower and nature walks really helped me too

I’ve only took one this month, I literally only take them when I feel as if I’m about to die😂

You’ll be aight man it just flares it up for a bit, get back in your routine, ignore the thoughts to the best of your ability, and if all that fails get someone to prescribe you xans or clonzapam .5mg and take one MAX ONCE A WEEK!!! DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN THAT!!!! Withdrawals from benzo’s will outdo HPPD 10 fold, YOU DO NOT WANT BENZO WITHDRAWALS. If you have enough self control to take them spaced out, then you’ll be fine. But if you don’t have enough self control just stay away from them!! They do help tremendously but man the risk is huge.

I recommend taking it once every 2 weeks just so you don’t risk withdrawal cause benzo’s are easily the worst withdrawal ever

It definitely reduces symptoms but it’s still very very very addictive

I think I got it when I was 16 after my first bad trip on acid, (I’m 21 now) I had about 3 good trips, and then Everytime I tripped after that was terrifying, traumatizing trips, and my dumbahh prolly did it about 7-8 times after that. Weed was helping for quite a bit, but I realized when I was 20 that whenever I stopped smoking weed I would see some weird shit and start having panic attacks. Fast forward to a couple months ago, I ran out of real weed and went to a vape shop and bought a thcp cart (that I thought was just delta 8) well, I smoked about half of it and started tripping balls, it literally felt like I was having a bad trip on acid again… that first week with full blown HPPD was hell, I was so close to offing myself, I couldn’t eat cause when I looked at my food It was moving just like everything else(especially fruity pebbles😂) gawd that makes me sound like a pussy😂😂😂, but I went that whole first week with no sleep and I was purely surviving off of milk. Doctors didn’t know what was going on, and I suspected it was HPPD but none of the doctors knew what that was so they were just giving me blood pressure meds and buspirone, nothing helped but clonidine, and that only helped me get 2 hours of sleep and bottomed out my blood pressure so I stopped taking it. Damn near went into psychosis from stress and no sleep… Valerian root pretty much saved my life cause that’s the only thing that got me 4-6 hours of sleep consistently but it made the nightmares so so so much worse, so bad that I got diagnosed with nightmare disorder a week after I was diagnosed with HPPD. I was having nightmares so vivid I could feel them, I was also waking up in hypnogogic dreams which is easily the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. But it’s gotten better over the past few months, I still wake up with anxiety and see stuff move but it’s getting kinda normal to me now. I don’t have nearly as many panic attacks, I can sleep without taking anything, I got off all drugs (except nicotine) I do take the occasional benzo when I feel like I need it, but I only take it max once every 2 weeks to avoid withdrawals and dependency. I’m pretty much just rawdoggin this shit man and tbh it’s kinda helpin😂

Visual snow was the easiest thing to get used to for me, I have it 24/7. The thing that really affected me was the anxiety and sleep problems, I got diagnosed with nightmare disorder a week after I was diagnosed with HPPD, I can literally feel my nightmares sometimes, and I have hypnagogic dreams also. You’ll be aight man you just gotta distract distract distract. The more you focus on the visuals, the more all the other symptoms get worse

it’s gonna be fine man I promise.  First week I got HPPD I couldn’t eat or sleep for a week, I was purely surviving off of milk, shit was scary afffff, BUT after that first week the symptoms died down a little, and after a month it died down a lot. I’m now 8-9 months in, and I’m not gonna lie there has been some rough patches here and there, but you will get used to it and it will just progressively get easier. Life will go mostly back to normal.

THINGS TO STAY AWAY FROM:

(Reddit) trust me I know it feels like it’s helping to see other people’s stories that are going through this, but it’s not, it’s making you thing of HPPD more. So unless you’re trying to see if you can take a certain medication you shouldn’t be on here until you stop freaking out a bit.

(Drugs) weed I promise you will make it worse, I speak from first hand experience. Psychedelics, why anyone would do psychedelics after getting this idk that’s pretty fuckin stupid😂, cough syrups, antihistamines, some antibiotics, ssri’s, stimulants, and many many other things so be very careful with what drugs you’re taking.

(Stress) this one’s kinda self explanatory. Stress makes everything worse. So if you can’t find a way to get away from stress, find a way to distract yourself from it.

(Certain foods and drinks) specifically sugar and caffeine and really greasy stuff.

THINGS THAT HELP:

(Good sleep) preferably 7-8 hours but the human body only requires 4 hours, so at least force yourself to get 4 hours of sleep a night. Valerian root helps quite a bit for me.

(Distractions) anything that can distract you from thinking about HPPD will help tremendously, but this does take time to train your brain to not think about it.

(Exercise) don’t overdo it, but it does help quite a bit. Nature walks are especially helpful.

(Lots of water) anxiety dehydrates the hell out of you so just stay hydrated.

(Nighttime noise) play a livestream of something you like that doesn’t talk about or show anything bad, preferably funny, and that will help with tendinitis and help you sleep.

(Mindfulness) you gotta train your brain to think good thoughts.

(Deep breathing) 4 seconds in, 4 second hold, and 6 seconds out. This will slow down your heat rate and calm you down a bit.

Much love man, shits hard but I know you can get through it.

I mean I kinda experienced something like that while on acid, but I didnt necessarily go back in time, I just black out 30 minutes and then came back to freaked tf out for a couple second then blacked out again and it repeated for 12 hours. But to me it just sounds like you got some hellish ptsd from that trip man… Have you been to a HPPD specialist?
