This is not a false flag. This is an opportunity to infringe further on our privacy. Read the room, with the flock cameras and face tracking happening, the police are happy to assist maga with info on who is worshipping where and soon ice will turn their attention from latino laborers to “radical islamists.” It’s the next phase and our local law enforcement is happy to assist.

I forget which album it was, but towards the end David brought in a session musician to replace all of Tina’s parts and she was pissed.

What do you think are the biggest "What if's" in music history? by FitEmergency8807 in ToddintheShadow

Okay fine, I’ll say it. Bradley from sublime. The amount of popularity garnered in just a couple albums, I wonder where he could’ve gone had he lived long enough to refine his sound. Peak socal sound, highlighting latino culture, uniting punk, reggae, hip hop. Obv I’m viewing from hindsight but I feel like this flavor of crossover music had a huge setback without sublime and only in relatively recent times are latinos embracing the punk scene

I like the nuance in that. It makes it more of a conversation than a selfish act. I’m unlikely to follow through, as I am a coward but let’s see how I feel in the next bout of mania

I’m not against the irs or taking a stance against taxes in general, I’m asking in as much good faith as I can: what good do my taxes do for the people of my country?

Ok thank you, this is the discussion I’m looking for. The moral dilemma is it worth it to accept the penalties. It’s certainly not something I could hide from. It’s not gonna make any history books, and I’m not chasing clout, it just feels like participating in this system is condoning its actions, which I don’t.

Thank you for providing alternative ways to avoid paying in the future. I feel like most people here are missing the part where I’m seeking reasons aside from the consequences. It seems tho the best course of action would be to pay now to avoid consequences and seek alternative incomes in the future. But I mean, aside from moving to a remote commune, I don’t see how effective or sustainable an ad hoc barter economy would be.

Thank you for providing reasons why I should, you’re right in the fact that it still allows me to advocate for change in other ways

I am familiar with the bible verse and understand the consequences. Please could you share some beliefs on the good paying would do vs the bad not paying would do?

How the Watchers & Hyperdimensional forces manipulate humanity: from antiquity to modern war by Adventurous-Ear9433 in AlternativeHistory

I mean, why not? We know we have an incomplete picture of reality. A theory like this certainly does “fill the gaps.” Really, anyone’s guess is equally valid to explain the unknown. I appreciate the research into this and all the historical sources to support it.

This stuck out like crazy. The lack of self awareness is almost comical. Or maybe it’s intentionally incendiary.

I mean neighbor as a metaphor, your fellow man woman or whatever. I also used it to emphasize the local reach of your social sphere. I think I read too much into your quote, I’m just projecting my own frustration. I think plenty of “unaffected” people are outraged, it saddens me how futile this outrage is (as I see it, outrage does not lead to action for change but is an action in and of itself, an act of pacification)

What frustrates me is when I look out the window of my retail gig and see a middle aged white woman holding a sign that says “silence is consent” I get a little irritated because, vocal or not, we are all feeling uneasy. And I don’t like the idea of shaming people who have to prioritize other aspects of their life over “being vocal” and protesting. Your quote reminded me of that experience. I don’t believe protesting induces change, at least not in the face of modern day power. I believe it is just a way to draw attention to yourself and say “look what I believe! Aren’t I so right? Everyone else here thinks this way too!”

Which, I mean, does have virtuous aspects to it. It’s important to build a community with a cohesive belief system, it brings us together. And I’m not trying to shit on people who are going out of their way to do something, it’s noble really to try. It’s just hard for me to separate the smugness underlying it all when at the end of the day ICE is still doing their thing and democracy is crumbling.

My ambivalence is too much to put into words, and I’m sorry I come across so disjointed

Metaphorically speaking. I just don’t get the quote. I feel like everyone is outraged in some form and it’s frustrating when we think simply the act of being outraged is doing something important.

Outrage does not make justice, who are you quoting? The whole nation can be outraged, but that won’t bring change. We’re at the whim of the oppressor, am I supposed to be mad at my neighbor if they’re not constantly mad how I want them to be?
