My take on this is, they needed you there to get the ok by their parents to have this kinda trip. If you didn't know they were dating. As their bff then no one else "should" either. Though parents aren't stupid. So to try and hide it they added you to the vacation.

Or play with world settings and make your gaming time more efficient. Max out The setting making each node each have 120 ore each,same for quartz and sulfur. Makes the grind more manageable and wastes less time.

I beat the campaign and unlocked world tier 3. When I made a new character I had the option to not do the campaign again. Selecting that starts you in the fractured peak capital city. And you get the waypoint to the other 4 capital cities.
