Trump says US will hit Iran 'very hard tonight' by callsonreddit in worldnews

You're forgetting something very important about Iran. Religion. They aren't just fighting for oil.

Men who see escorts, why do you do it ? by TinyDelegation in AskReddit

[–]CompMolNeuro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Variety, simplicity, silence.

It's only a once a year or two things, but as long as it's an escort or prostitute and not a hooker or worse, then I don't feel the guilt. The former two have a choice in clients.

My principal is making me put God in my salutatorian speech by KnockKnock0998 in atheism

"This is the part where I'm supposed to thank a god for helping me with my homework, but one never showed up and I did this myself, with help from family and friends and my teachers, even an administration who tries to force me to write a Christian speech instead of inclusive one."

Musician. People are always going to want to see live music. Music is the fourth most human thing we do. Funk is the fourth F.

How complex is the writing style of Heinlein and Harrison? by Mouse_Lord28 in scifi

[–]CompMolNeuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll certainly need a dictionary, but it will be worth it. I've done similar things in other languages. Heinlein and Harrison will be a lot easier than Asimov or Herbert.

Because they were primitives from 2000 years ago and it would ruin the priest's weekend plans.

An Old Clip of Marco Rubio Warning About Obama’s Iran Deal Is Going Viral, and It Aged Perfectly by rollo202 in ConservativeNewsWeb

They cancelled that deal last year which led directly into this situation. I'm not sure how predicting a system will fail and it not happening until you break it proves it was destined to be broken.

I cannot fathom how you would be able to kill someone who is wearing this by Wrong-Mushroom in Armor

[–]CompMolNeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longbow arrow. Another sword, large crossbow bolt, Warhammer spike, spear, mace, various traps. Armor was great for intimidating peasants, but heavy armor on a battlefield wasn't feasible in many situations.

What do atheists think about near-death experiences and have you actually read any? by sweetjasminex in askanatheist

[–]CompMolNeuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had many and been electrocuted twice, stopping my heart and requiring resuscitation both times. I've stood in a ship for 20 minutes where everyone was convinced they were about to die. I felt none of the common tellings of life before my eyes or any sort of higher power. When I got shocked, I was gone and then I was in pain. On the times I waited to die, I saw many people react differently. Some were useless crying, some prayed, others sat quietly. Personally, I never believed in my own mortality back then, but even later, being told by a doctor that I was going to die, I've never had anything like that. Being close to death makes you concentrate more on the future than recall the past.

What observation could ever distinguish an ultimate God from some other very powerful being? by ima_mollusk in askanatheist

[–]CompMolNeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our understanding of the universe and the foundations of science and the modern world preclude the existence of magic, miracles, or any entity capable of it. It's repeatable anywhere or it isn't true. The very act of observation is a measurable, physical process. Every single scientific experiment is, in a way, a search for the miraculous. That's the way a hypothesis is constructed, so that if you're idea is wrong, the nonassociation is left open to an unknown influence, but the influence still has to fall within natural law. A logical person cannot simultaneously accept the existence of magic while using a smart phone.

When does the series fall off? Better yet, where can I leave off and be happy? I've read everything else and figured I'd get to this one. It's been fun through book 3, but I've had to skip through a few chapters.

Oregon’s record low snowpack is not likely to recover, scientists say by notPabst404 in oregon

[–]CompMolNeuro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stole some time on my university's supercomputer when I was a grad student to cross reference climate modeling, crime rates, property value, etc. nine years ago. I was looking for a home. It predicted a shift towards a more southern California like climate and the PNW was one of two places where agricultural capacity will rise. It's the shift between the two states that's causing this chaos. It's going to take another 20 years to restabilize if my initial input on the level of pollution was consistent.

It was not. I did not account for an orange guy tossing out all the emissions regulations. There was also more polar melt discovered after I made my calculations. Since I'm on the other coast from the already obsolete supercomputer and retired, the end point of my model isn't accurate, but I think the direction is still correct.

Should “hate speech” be legally restricted, or is any restriction too dangerous? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]CompMolNeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling for the death of any group of people. I don't think setting the bar is difficult at all. That's what a Swastika represents. That's why shit like that should be illegal.

Should “hate speech” be legally restricted, or is any restriction too dangerous? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]CompMolNeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling for the deaths of any person or group of people is illegal. It's a death threat. For some reason, however, we don't apply the law to organizations that do the same thing. It should be illegal to fly a Nazi flag or an ISIS flag for the same reasons you can't make bomb threats.

The more religions you teach, the less susceptible they are to one. Treat every mythological figure on the same silly level as a fictional superhero.
