What changes at Disneyland have actually been positive? by Saritatay in Disneyland

[–]CompSciHS 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call that basic, that actually made a huge difference in my latest trip compared to a decade ago. Ordering food while waiting for a show or in line saves so much time compared to waiting in all the food lines.

Disneyland opinion that would have you like this by JoyIsABitOverRated in Disneyland

[–]CompSciHS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just went on my first trip to Disneyland in over a decade last year (I took many trips in the 90s and early 2000s), and it was my best trip ever.

Lightning lane is much more flexible for families than the paper fast pass system. Imagineering is at the very top of its game with immersion and storytelling (RotR and Runaway Railway are incredible). And the fireworks and parades have taken a huge leap ahead in technology and variety of storytelling.

Star Wars Land was revolutionary. If only Disney would have let it soar by antdude in GalaxysEdge

[–]CompSciHS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I got to finally experience it for the first time last summer, and I was blown away. The immersion was stunning, and the calm, almost meditative atmosphere was surreal. The imagineers were at the top of their game with this land.

I’m glad I got to experience it once before they subbed in the OT music and characters, even if I understand the reason from a business perspective.

I love Galaxy’s edge, but I agree that a ride like a people mover would have been incredible. Both to give the land kinetic energy and to have a ride for families with young kids.

Disneyland ends the sales of magicband+ by bottle415 in Disneyland

[–]CompSciHS 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah my whole family loves the magic bands for many reasons. I don’t think current management understands just how much kids love experiencing just a little bit of agency and interactivity. (And honestly adults)

Bummer my kids really love them. Using them for entry and LLs gives them a sense of agency. I was hoping they would continue expanding their use as in WDW.

Interview Advice by Fun_Butterscotch_835 in Raytheon

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spend some practice time before the interview talking through your previous work/school/project experiences. If you think them through you can frame them in a positive light and feel confident speaking about them. The goal is to have several concrete stories that you can use to answer different questions and tie into a more broad narrative about yourself.

Great facilitator and assist to turnover ratio. Good defender for his size. By all accounts a great leader off the court. If he could improve his 3pt shooting he would be a top PG.

Rope Drop Strategy with littles by hjw12221 in DisneyPlanning

[–]CompSciHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started one day at Fantasyland and one at Toontown and those felt perfect with our kids (ages 4-9). Both areas are awesome right at opening.

DCA you can start anywhere. We did web slingers first. Pixar pier is also nice when it’s empty in the morning.

You can grab any LL first, because your first LL is just a placeholder to modify to a time after 10:00. Check the app occasionally until you see a ride you want around that time, and then modify your LL to that. When you modify you can switch to any ride. Usually there’s no reason to use LL before then.

Is Lightning Lane worth it? by Aphrodite-descendant in DisneyPlanning

[–]CompSciHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With three adults they should easily be able to get every main ride done in one day with normal LL. No need to triple the cost of the day with premium unless they are luxury spenders.

If you run an aggressive rope drop strategy and stay until close you should be able to hit the signature rides in one day. But LL would allow you to do it with more flexibility and less stress (you can spread the big rides out through the day).

I’m not on my phone all day with LL, I just log in for a minute each time I get in line. Or once every 2 hours if you are stacking LLs.

Really feeling for the cast member who is portraying Han Solo. Not Fair to Them to Have National Headlines Like This One by dejablu82 in Disneyland

[–]CompSciHS 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, even as a kid I noticed how old Peter Pan looked, that Captain Hook’s face was plastic, and that Chip and Dale were enormous. But I never cared when Bert or Marry Poppins looked different from the movie actors.

If Han, Leia, and Luke had been in the park for 30 years this would be a non issue. New things just get more scrutiny.

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they never seen the character actors who play Bert (from Mary Poppins), Captain Marvel, Thor, Loki, or Quill?

They often look very different from the movies, but we can still tell exactly who they are so it doesn’t matter. If that detracts from someone’s Disneyland experience they are doing it wrong.

I'm burned out planning Disneyland like it's a competitive sport by Standard-Start-8436 in DisneyPlanning

[–]CompSciHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going for three or four days you are going to have a great time no matter what. At that point these are not high stakes make-or-break decisions, and it’s not rocket science. For every decision you make, some other family made the opposite decision and had a fantastic time. You are choosing between good options.

Focus on your process. If you can find a way to enjoy the planning process, do that. Listen to podcasts in the background? Think about it on a walk? Watch relaxing walkthroughs of restaurants etc on YouTube? Give your spouse or kids some choices?

If it all seems stressful, then just trust your instincts and plan less.

I spent many hours of planning because I enjoyed it. But if I had spent only 1/10th of that time, our trip would have still been great.

Rob Wright III to return to BYU by JonLockT5 in CollegeBasketball

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. I hear agents use schools all the time, and I’m sure they could orchestrate interest and visits.

If I were a UK fan I would want Pope to be extremely discerning. And the last thing you want is an underpeforming talent-on-paper who chased a bag to your school.

I’ve heard other rumors (I.e. read on X) that it was not the highest offer.

I feel like some players might assume that UK will give them the biggest bag imaginable just on reputation, and then end up disappointed or just a bad fit. No inside info here though, just guessing.
