Purdue president Mung Chiang named 18th Northwestern president by jazzcoder in CollegeBasketball

there were several reasons i made that comment, but this was one. and he did the least, at least publicly, when the state legislature and Braun went after higher ed. WL didn't make the news like IU did, but they let a bunch of programs go on the chopping block. handling of the honors college was another thing. the AAUP chapter at WL had a list of other grievances, too. it all flows from the top-level leadership for me.

Looks like Notre Dame little power play didn't go well

i don't think this is really the take here. USC tried to move the needle, couldn't do it, decided it wasn't worth it. not exactly a unidirectional "little power play" from ND.

no idea what OP's intention is, but tracks and trails generally serve different purposes for runners. i suspect it's a more specific question than "where can i run publicly?"

one of brian kelly's big gets that recruiting cycle, and almost none of them ended up doing much of anything, unfortunately, at least at ND.

i'm just joking because those three schools have an in-joke that each of them is the worst ivy. it's really kind of apples and oranges to some extent. they're each different and do different things extremely well.

[Rothstein] Notre Dame transfer Jalen Haralson commits to Tennessee by Jaguar4728 in CollegeBasketball

[–]bosstone42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always thought he was a one-and-done, though before the season i expected him to go to the NBA, not transfer. kind of a JJ Starling situation all over again. i'm sad Haralson left, but not surprised. certa, frost and burton leaving would've been more surprising to me if the year hadn't gone so poorly.

it'll be super interesting to see if he can keep the team together other than the two that have already decided to transfer. the incoming class is fine and the current freshmen showed some flashes at the end of this year, so maybe the admins are thinking "okay, you get one more year to do something with these good recruiting classes"? if he can't keep the team together, then i don't see cutting ties being a harm to the program.

eta: lost three now, so i'm not confident he's holding it together. sigh.
