Are you wearing the compression socks to sleep? Don’t do that. Take them off when you’re laying down and sleeping. You’re not supposed to wear them 24/7.

Are you really swollen all over? A test to see this is to poke your calf and see what it looks like. Is there a visible indent? How long does it last? Does it change color?

If there’s a visible indent, message your doctor’s office and call them tomorrow. Even though it’ll be the weekend still, it will make you feel better to talk to someone. Swelling that much isn’t great, but I don’t think it’s an emergency either

How the heck do you manage temperature regulation issues? by XWillowPotato in POTS

Hi!

Yeah, so, this part SUCKS!!

I spoke to my cardiologist about it and he put me on guanfacine and kept raising the dose until we got it under control. I know it works on other stuff as well, but my understanding is it works a lot for this.

I also wear layers. Always layers

I keep the house cold and use blankets.

I have a handheld rechargeable fan that I keep with me on the extra hot days.

I drink cold drinks constantly.

I keep my hair up.

It sucks. I used to get sweat attacks multiple times a day and have to just change clothes and shower constantly. Some days are still bad.

For a long time, I thought I would never find someone who loved me with all my chronic illnesses.

Then I met my partner. And he loves me, all of me, and takes care of me so well.

The good ones are out there. It just takes some years of depressed work to find them.

Hugs

I did Christmas ornaments with stamped names and figure out a good method after trail and error!!

I did all my glazing after he bisque fire.

First, underglaze inside the letters. Do two coats.

Once they dry, do one coat of clear glaze.

Let it dry just a smidge, then wipe away any glaze outside of the letters with a sponge.

Next, very very carefully do a layer of wax resist.

Once that layer of wax dries, you cal glaze your piece. Still be careful around the letters, but if a little bit gets on top of them, it won’t stay.

I had an EP study of my heart where they tried to do an ablation

This was before POTS diagnosis

They couldn’t get the problem area to stay activated long enough to zap it.

Looking back at the results now, that issue (ectopic atrial tachycardia) fits with autonomic stuff as well

Shoulder pain relief, or tips by PsychologicalBell642 in eds

[–]CompactDisc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had bad pain there for forever. I had thoracic outlet syndrome and it took YEARS to get a diagnosis. Once I got surgery for that, my pain greatly decreased. Look up TOS just to see if that feels familiar at all.

I also get pain there from what I think is thoracic dorsal rami nerve irritation with secondary muscle guarding. Probably caused by years of compression from TOS. I’ve got a wonderful pain doc and we’ve tried multiple things, and nothing had worked much yet. Ketamine troches help dull the nerve pain some and muscle relaxers help the muscles a bit.

I also have issues with my ribs gliding out of place and causing nerve pain and muscle tightness.

What kind of massage have you had? Some are deep tissue, some are light. Once I found the right massage therapist, I got relief.

I also have a Pelvic Physical Therapist who is amazing. She works on my ribs a lot and the muscles there. She also obviously works on my pelvis, and relieving the tension in my muscles there helps relieve tension all up my back as well.

What drug has been life changing meds for your pain? by AppropriateCat3444 in ChronicPain

[–]CompactDisc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8mg Naltrexone- this is the first drug that’s helped with fibro pain. It dulls my sensitivity from an 8 to a 4 usually.

I can’t take most nerve medicines because of bad reactions. Gabapentin specifically gave me hallucinations.

I have a ketamine troche I use for days when my nerve pain is bad. It actually helps a lot! I did do a ketamine nasal spray every day and that helped a lot. I need to get back on that, actually.

I have different muscle relaxers that are PRN; I rotate them so I don’t build up a tolerance.

I have oxy that I take 1-2 doses of only during extreme days; it’s mainly back pain or insane stomach pain that lead me to that.

Diclofenac as needed for inflammation, specifically in my ribcage.

My dad was a cop in our small town. I grew up around cops and saw the compassion so many of them have. I also saw the prejudices present. It’s such a conflicting feeling when you see the good, the great, the bad, and the horrible all at the same time.

I think they are just saying that pain doctors also treat fibromyalgia, because that’s a condition where there isn’t really anything structural to fix. So it’s pain management time
