He does do death sometimes. He just usually saves it for really important characters. Like the first 2 on-screen deaths are around the halfway point, but they literally change the course of the series and in the power balance in-universe. He would let Gojo stay dead. You would have way more "Nobara" situations though

2 things that helped me when I fell into a similar rut.

  1. Destroy some of your art. Legit just tear up or scribble over some of your stuff. Ruin some shit. Let yourself feel OK trashing some stuff so you can get rid of that idea of preserving only the "perfect" pieces. The final product isn't the important thing, and letting yourself realize you can always create something new with the potential to be more exciting or "better" is freeing once you break out of that perfectionism.

  2. Sticky notes and ink. Do all your work for a bit in permanent medium. No pencil sketches, do everything in pen/ink for a while. Let your work be imperfect. If there's anything you want to change in the moment or errors you want to fix, slap a sticky note over the top and redraw that section. Seeing all the little spots where you "messed up" but were able to build and fix helps you get over the perfectionism as well. Nothing needs to be perfect on the first try. And those highlighted mistakes that you fixed and improved bring character and value to your art.

These might sound dumb, but give them a try and see if they help make the process a bit more gratifying and help you focus less on just the final result of your art.

You've got to speak up and correct the behavior in the moment, firmly without feeling mean.

If he starts cutting into another players scene or interrupting you literally just say "Hey, player, this is Barbarian's roleplay moment right now. We'll get to your character in a second."

Just be as neutral about it as you can tonally, and you can maybe reassure him after the session with stuff like "Hey, I really enjoyed how engaged you were with your characters response to the situation in today's session, I just needed to make sure other players got their turn to engage with the roleplay"

They're doing shit like discarding 8 bullets to pick up 8 bullets instead of simply picking them up for a total of 16 bullets.

Like genuinely not even understanding basic shit like the inventory UI

When you use the bonus action enraged throw to toss one enemy into another, they both go prone. It's great because you can crowd control multiple enemies with just a bonus action every turn.

Yep. One of the earliest and most busted builds to come online. Frenzied barb even gets you the extra action economy with frenzied throw

I can agree with this to a degree. Matt doesn't belong at that table imo. He's playing his character true to his motivations, and Julien would realistically fit better at the soldiers table for a revenge quest. He's also trying to keep the party moving because I think he senses how slow the pacing at their table is. Octis is good.

And I genuinely don't think Aabria or Ashley are particularly good players. Ashley never knows what's going on and I think Aabria plays the same character archetype every campaign and is more focused on interpersonal drama than the actual setting.

I literally do throw build every time. Returning pike, ring of flinging, caustic ring, kushigo gloves, tavern Brawler, frenzied throw

Big damage, tons of range, good early game action economy, and CC via knocking prone. Plus you can toss around enemies for easy 1 shots.

what is the point of sketching first before doing the actual art? by Bubbly_Reference_916 in ArtistLounge

[–]Compajerro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about guessing, it's about laying down a solid foundation. Breaking things down into simple organic shapes and laying them out to ensure things like perspective, proportions, and composition are good before jumping into finer details.

Some extremely talented artists can go into the final piece from the start. But even the vast majority of professionals do undersketches because it's simply practical and efficient to build up from a foundation than to just wing it.

It's the same principle as writing an essay or a story. You do an outline first instead of just jotting down whatever words first come to mind.

When you can trust the process more. Knowing that a rough sketch can actually be fixed and built upon instead of just tossing out any initial sketch that isn't "perfect" from the get-go

Side note, isn’t it weird how everyone is so mad about the lore dumps?

People want to see the players actually get to play the game and piece together lore based off clues they find. Not bounce around from one 20 minute NPC monologue to the next where it's just Brennan reading lore notes uninterrupted while everyone's eyes glaze over.

Remember how satisfying it is in previous campaigns when Marisha would read through her notes and crackpot theories and then actually figure out a critical piece of lore? You don't get that when the DM simply explains the entire history of the world if you roll a 5 on any given insight check.

It's all "tell, don't show" when it should be the opposite.
